I know...And they are Pro's??? Better of sticking to the little lakes where they can run there 300 horse motors on the skinny boats at full throttle....I would never own a bass boat and plan to fish erie with it....

have a 20ft ranger bass boat and run erie all the time,good judgement & common sense goes a long way,i wouldnt be on erie in anything other than a bass boat catching those big brown fish.lol

 
If that's all your fishing for, than a bass boat wouldn't be a bad choice. Like you said though, good judgement and common sense when planning on going out. But, if your constantly fishing tournaments on lake erie and can't pick the days when you go out, a low profile bass boat may not be the best style boat. If it were me, I would have a Lund Tyee or Similar....with a deeper V and higher transom....
