My hand tied size 10 bugger in either black or olive. They cant resist them dead drifted or stripped. Egg patterns are like cheating! Stones are my droppers.

Bugger variation using 2 rabbit hair collars rather than a palmered hackle, size 6 -12. Size, colors determined by stream size, water color, and other factors.

I second that. Last year was my first time really using buggers for steel and an olive bugger became my go-to fly for steel.

If I'm nymphing, I like a heavy stonefly nymph. A wiggle stone or a CMY stone. If I'm swingin, I like spey and intruder style flies. I catch more nymphing but I would rather have the hit on the swing.

I like to hit the fast cuts with a white bugger. The strikes are very aggressive. When low and clear I,ll swing them under logs and strip fast.

Rootbeer brown stone inabout size 14 (looks like a cockroach) and Greg senyos' flashback stone in bright blue. I've tried a soft hackle but can never get the drift right (unlike someone I know).

buggers of course...and I have found that san juan's work wonders on fish in shallow runs when the water is super low and clear.

Olive bugger. Last year at the one fly, I lost mine early and tied on an olive bugger and finally had some action. Should've been my first choice.
I don't give a crap if anybody listens to me or not.
