    check this deal out

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Waterworks-Lamson-Fishing-Fly-Reel-Radius-1-5-Black_W0QQitemZ200365847629QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item2ea6bc344d&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14

don't worry about it saying it's for a 4,5 wt.  i have one on my 3 wt and its perfect, weight is 4.5 oz, same as sla.  this was a $160 reel till closeout.

FF46.........I am not found of Cabelas products and that goes back years (especailly as of late though !!!)..........try to find something very light......

the LOOP CLW or CLWC 2/6  --4.09 oz-- 130 bucks--fly reels are super light..........

I love Fly Logic reels, but they are on the heavy side for shorter rods-- FLP 345 5 oz--99 bucks-- and the FLO234 --320 bucks weighs 5.2 oz...........

I read somewhere that the Cabelas reel was the same as a Gander Mountain reel, only priced higher since it won an award......

I see it is on sale.........85 bucks, not a bad deal.........4.5 oz.......

As stated in one of your other threads, I use the LOOP CLWC 2/6 and match it with my 6'6" GL3---I showed this reel to a guide and he gave me a very puzzled look........super freaky CLEAR finish--

Another really nice little reel (--I Just sold one on E-Bay--)  DAM Finessa 3/4 reel---same as Okuma Vashon, only it is Red/Black.......they can be found cheap on ebay.......it was a nice reel, but times are tough and it had to go....

I've got a couple (don't shoot at me) Orvis Battenkill reels. $80-$100 depending on the size.

Yes, they're part molded plastic, but I like the drag enough. I can't justify killing a ton of dough on a reel when, for me, they are primarily a line-storing-device. I found the "Fly Reel 3/4" perfectly balanced for my 3wt 7.5' (or 7' 9") rod and the "Fly Reel 5/6" balanced for my 6wt 9'.

Though, the big $$ ones I've tested have been really nice too. A kind of I-want-it-because-its-so-well-made-and-feels-nice-and-sounds-nice-and-oooh-ahhhh-I-like-touching-it-SOoooo.

Very nice, harry, I agree with 2B.

Usually, with anything I'm really into, there's one particular aspect that really grabs me. In tying, I like saddle hackles. I dont know why, but I just like checking out all the colors and such. For gear...I love little fly reels. Anything for 4wt and under. There's just something about little fly reels that I find interesting, almost like a fine watch or piece of jewelry. I wont ever buy one "just because", but rest assured that if and when I add any light rods to the collection, I'll have lots of fun checking out the light reels.

English BBS II.  Don't care about being an orvis "dude" but they do make a good reel.

why waste money on a reel for a 3 wt. when the majority of the time you are simply stripping line in for the land instead of putting the fish on the reel?

    ... other than looking good

"Sure, we can assiduously three-quarter our wets downstream, mend and wait out each fly swing, over and over again, which to my way of thinking, anyway, relegates the angler to the role, not of nemesis as it should be, but of butler."
