First catfish out of the river

Well these were the only catches of the night, almost lost the rod on the last one. My friends had another on but it got off because we weren't paying to much attention. We're planning to go back out tomorrow night in hopes of more cats

Those were channel catfish. Nice catches.

Of the three most common catfish in this area ( bull head, flathead, channel) only the channel has a forked tail,as shown in your pict.  sam  ps. funny thing happened to me while I was fishing at the Aquatorium the first time I was there: when I got there I backed my truck up to the edge while fishing & did not notice all the seats that were empty at the time, after a while I caught a nice sized channel & since I was by my self, had a tough time getting it in the net. When I finaly did so I heard people clapping & whistleing, when I turned aroud I found that about 25-50 people had come to watch the sun-set & were cheering me on. Embarrased the hell out of me. Also caught a small musky & several nice bass. After dark we tried to catch some of those **** rats that were running around just at the edge of the light. Planned on using 1 for bait for those big flatheads. We would toss some velveeta cheese on a small treble hook, they would get the cheese but not the hook. Prob. better that we didn't hook one anyway. lol  sam

Nice fish ! Hope you figured out the problem with your line breaking. When I lived in Monongahela I fished for crappie off the Aquatorium in the evenings but I only caught them early in the year(April-May). Used minnows with a float right along the wall. You keep messin' round with the cats you might eventually get into and land a big one. Good luck!
