Oh you most certainly gave him "guidance", and let him no his"place", as did many others. And yes, he DID start over, a peg or two lower on the rungs. I think if you read beyond the phrase you quoted, I also opposed "going off" on him/them.

You make a valid point regarding attending to those who are out of line. However, there is a fine line between doing it constructively, and doing so to make oneself look "tough." I see very little constructiveness here.
At times it is difficult to differentiate between the child and the adult - a point that you eluded to.

There are pages upon pages.... hundreds of posts of "constructive" advice from respected long standing board members, that were ignored. And they were insulted for it. Tough has nothing to do with it. At least for me. I think most of us thought if we squeezed the pimple, it would pop and clear up. Instead it got **** and infected.
