Tha Dack's

Fished long & hard, almost till you puke (lol)
To me the best place New York has to offer. The waters were high the fishing was mostly brown (swag) .
From here on out it's only about the photo's.......

   Nothing like an empty campgrounds

1 in the yak, well almost the lightning had me rowing up stream QUICK!

                  better day for sure

                  here come the rain

Remember, fishing is a blood sport, every day could have been this but only keep what you can eat.

can you tell the pure breads ?

               Another trip from the canoe

like I said , down town Brown... Fatties though for sure

                      Back in the yak

                              hello

A giant , big fish eat big meals, not small flies

A lure drawing the first strike of an early morning, the strong tug on the end of your line, the excitement of a leaping fish... that,s livin large!

rj,no doubt fishin dak camping is high on my list of things to do! looks like with all this wet ( cooler weather too)extends trout season ..imo it will be a good July man!  the streamflows are unwadable now , probably unfishable even with a boat until sometime next week. i'm not even going up this weekend..you and whoever are always welcome to try some tailwater EB .. but looking at those dak pics, i have to agree with you and jimmy. just the scenery alone and knowing how vast that park is with such opportunities. We got to meet up soon, i may have to take a break from the cats and bring my yak for the dak.

79, the great thing about the Ausable is while it will rise fast it also falls even faster. it's all downhill. right now it's in perfect shape for a kayak or canoe.

the campground was KOA in Wilmington, the Ausable flows right throug the back of the grounds altho I don't generally fish there much. We always time it so the kiddies are still in school which made for a very empty and quiet stay. Wilmington Notch State grounds is just up the road and more geared towards a fisherman, thats where I would go now (or just wilderness camp).
As for the camper, actually my wife bought it. I was set against anything of that sort, I have always been a roughin' it sort of person but I'll tell you what, the thing is AWESOME . I even talked about upgrading to a full driving RV , like a tour bus (LOL)
The EB, well thanks for the invite but I doubt I'll make a trip downstate, maybe , so I'll never say never but my compas always seems to point north or west.

    P.S.
Notice those bright red filets !!  No stockies there. While we did catch quite a few planted fish we also caught a large number of wild (as could be) fish. Most all of which were returned to spread the genes but those 2 sure taste much better.

got'em.... Welcome aboard brother. It's a cool bunch here and I'm sure if you get the chance to hang with some of us you would fit right in.
Lake Placid is a wicked day trip, at least for me. An overnighter would be better served. You name the day(s) and I'm sure we could get it done.
The Chair   !!! that's not mine.... the thing is like brand new, my wife uses it, here is my chair. Notice the fish woven in !

RJ......i have one of those black dogs as well......she is seven years old and still acts like a puppy.....can swim like a fish.

Where did u get yours?.......my breeder lives in Catskill within site of the river....when we got her there were 3 litters from 3 different moms and about 22 puppies to choose from........we went to the far end of the pen and called to all of them........and took the one that ran over to us.....it was a great experience to share with my 3 kids...who were from 2 - 8 years old at the time.

Sweet pics RJ. I'm wicked jealous of you guys that have the time for this. If I get everything done on the house by next spring, I'll be up there some.

When hell freezes over, I'll fish there too.
