East Greenbush Town Park - Big Bass!

So i was driving through EG the other day and just happened to have my rod and tackle box so i threw a few casts out.....

Nothing........then i walk back over to the main beach and take one last cast way out past the weeds.......retrieve my lure to the edge of the weeds and was just gonna hop it across the top so it didn't get tangled in the weeds......well 1 twitch across and it got hammered.....probably 4 lbs or so of fighting largemouth......great big fat belly full of eggs and a seriously beat up tail.....was kind of cool to see and then to show the group of 2 moms and 4 or 5 little kids and explain the belly and tail and how they are preparing to spawn.

Let her go to make more little ones (bass is still closed??)

yeah, i'm not sure i'd eat anything from that pond...
it's a great little place cause no one really serious fishes there.
also, the woods on the other side is LOADED with ticks!
pop-rs and senkos are my best for there.

I ice fished there over the winter (I was tired of getting skunked on the big lakes), I didn't get anything big, but still got a few perch, crappie, and a few little bass. Definately a good time and a nice little pond.

Might be worth a visit some evening Ship...  Think we could toss a canoe in there or something?

yeah, i've tossed a conoe in, pretty small, but makes presentation to the brush on the far shore a lot easier.

just watch when you go, during the summer there is a summer camp for kids there.  as gross as it seems a good amount of kids go swimming there.  makes fishing kind of annoying.  also if you have good balance i have crossed to the other side by means of waterfall.  p.s theres no confirmed trout in the sream below.  lots of chub like things though.
