I used to rent a cabin on the Au Sable. It is beautiful up there.

It's a beautiful river scenic and fish wise. I'd say the highest fish per mile in NY. It has and we have been doing well there lately. Now here is the catch... expect every pull off to have a vehicle on a weekend. Good news, There is plenty of room for anglers just walk away from the road, like I said highest ratio of fish. Every pocket Eddy or run will have fish.  Dries are fine & fun, march browns are tapered off, blue wings are always present, sulphurs, grey fox and drakes are coming on and fish spinners in the morning. Remember though, big fish eat big meals, streamers in minnow imitations, even the sinned hardware on spinning rigs will catch big fish.
I will be fishing and guiding the river for 10 days starting on friday.
If you see a blue kayak floating down or a green Tundra roadside feel free to say hello...

Good Luck and enjoy the river.
