NORTHERN PIKE from the Adirondacks

May 13th, couple of nice ones.  The first one was 26" and the next was 30" but length doesn't do justice the size and weight difference in these two fish.  The 30" northern was much heavier and bigger in overall size.  I guess I really should have bought the Rapala fish holder that had a scale on it.  I now see the usefulness of it.  Catched and released both but seriously thinking back wonder if I should have kept the big one for dinner tonight.  Had to post these in their own thread because they look so little compared to those stripers...lol

WTG - I used to catch them for an ole timer on Lake George - said when they were cut up right they would make a mean batch of Pike chowder ... (before the time I started eating fish) way before - lol - after Striper season is over Tigers -Musky - and Pike are next on the hit list ... Thanks for shareing the picks !

I sooo should have kept the big one for eats but am so used to catching and releasing that it didn't cross my mind at the time.  Pike chowder, I will have to keep that in mind.  Hey, what did I do wrong with the pics.  I would have liked them up and down under each other.

    Thanks

Wow, your weren't kidding about "Northern" NY. Just looked up where Canton is, your almost speaking french...lol. You ever fish the St. Lawrence for musky? I hear they get pretty monstrous.

I just bought my bass boat last August and only went to the st. Lawrence river once with no luck.  I love the resevoirs in the adirondacks right now but will eventually this year venture on a trip to the St. Lawrence for a Musky hunt.  I did catch a musky in the local river last week. Check out the story in the thread "Big Weekend".  It was awesome for 2' of water.

And we are right beside Canada.  16 miles from the St. Lawrence and bridge to Canada.  We say "EH" a lot...lol...but not so good on my french since high school many years ago...lol

Northern pike from the adirondacks not only mean pics of fish but here are some of what you will find while fishing in the adirondacks. Bald eagle, deer jumping in water and swimming across in front of boat, fishing in the rain, and 7am on the calm water enjoying the peacefulness.
