WILHELM ?????

Was up at Wilhelm over the weekend.  The bite seems to be slow.  I was told by a local in Sandy Lake, that the lake is being stocked with shad.  Anyone know any info on this?

There was a large shad die off last year in wihelm shad all over the bank and all along sandy creek in mid april ...which might explain the excellent fishing last year in the lake even with that said there still seamed to be plenty of shad left. I would not think (but don't know) they would stock them as shad die offs I guess are commonplace.

I got report of dozens of dead carp on the shoreline a month or so ago. Thats pretty strange isnt it? Carp are pretty hardy, takes a lot to kill them. I was thinking maybe all the melt off and precipitation we had early in the year washed a lot of the chemicals they put on the crop fields and garbage washing in from the gas wells. To tell you the truth the fishing there seemed to really go down hill when they put that new big gas well in on creek rd.
Anyhow, I havent heard anything either on any stocking of shad.

Nightowl, I don't think that big gas well had much to do with it. I think its just a fussy lake. I think that Wilhelm is still an excellent fishery, although, I am starting to branch out to other lakes. I didn't even see that many dead carp....no number out of the ordinary anyway.
