boat fishing for trout @ two mile run?

has anyone ever fished two mile run lake (justus lake) for trout in a boat? other than it being eletric only are there any other regs? is troling small lures the way to go there? im taking my handicapped father out and want to make this a good trip for him. i figured since he cant walk far, and he always has to have his meds with him that this would be a good idea. thanks, mike j.

Fishing in a boat there is very good for trout.

The upper half of the lake to the beach area is the shallower part of the lake. There is a small creek channel that runs along the eastern shore of the lake. We work small spoons and spinners and rapalas in the shallower water.

The end down towards the dam is very deep. Minnows or crawlers just of the bottom can work in the deep end..We have caught some very large trout out of the deep end..

We used to do quite well with the trout right from the boat launch, Most standard trout lures and or tackle should work fine..

Minnows under a float will do well for trout there. I'm not sure trolling would be the way to go, it may be too crowded the first day, least on parts of the lake. Down by the dam you'd probably be ok.

On the first day it's a zoo right around the boat launch but normally the lower end of the lake is open for trolling. A friend used to use downriggers in the lower end of the lake and always got trout and often some big holdover trout. After the first day, other than stock day, it's wide open. Top end is shallow and lower end is deep. Another tip; if you're into fly fishing, in the evenings you can get a lot of trout rising in the top end of the lake. Also some nice perch there and spotty but nice crappies and bluegills.

Strange day at the lake apparently. I ran into Bob Steiner, he had been at the lake and said absolutely no one was catching any fish.
