just spent a couple days at Conneaut-  14 pike, all 20-30" & 4 LM's-  2 of them 4 to 5#.  Im still learning so this was a great trip for me.  Cold front came in Thurs & killed it but tue & wed were good, even though rainy.  coves & inlets.  I'll post some pics if I figure out how.

Clean hooksets & good releases for them all too!

I was in Conneaut Lake on Thursday and fished that spot where he's holding that pike. That area evidently has a bunch of pike in it. I kept hooking up with them only landing half from cut offs. The darn little ones cost me a ton in baits!

thats funny because I was there all day Thursday & didnt see any boats, certainly not in the coves where we were. Unless we're talking about 2 different locations.

I found a map that was a scanned image somewhere online- it was so weak when I printed it I had to trace over everything.    I dont even have the image electronically anymore, just the hardcopy. I think someone posted it on here somewhere before too.

its actually a decent map though- it has depths on it.

I have friends in that area that said there's a restaurant that has the map as a placemat!!  dont know where though- sorry

Hoss if you send me a number I'll fax a copy of the map to you-

perhaps a leader may prevent you from losing your baits?  Unless that hampers the ability to catch bass.

I didn't see you either. I put in at the PFBC office. Fished from 9 to 12.

That bass was on a 6" bubblegum sluggo, over the weeds in 10' water.  we also got a couple nice ones on husky jerks in the shallows.

I always catch a ton of Pike at Conneaut but never any Muskie, even any small ones. We've thrown everything at 'em large and small. Any ideas? I've always heard both sides of the spectrum when it comes to being a quality muskie lake. And yes I know that the state record was caught there.

Havent caught any muskie either there, had a big one follow when I was there in April, on the east side at one of the inlets. It was big, and defenitely not a pike.

We Fished there saturday from 1 till dark and we had a pretty good day. Had a small musky follow my bucktail but spooked at boat side, my partner also had a follower.  My partner caught a carp on a spinner bait, good size one 30+ inches. He also caught one bowfin nice around 30 inches. A few pike smallers ones, and alot of largemouths, one pig its in the picture. I was going for the musky but caught a few bass, and one 40 inch pike, in the picture. Throught out the day we had alot of missed fish. Overall great day, not bad for the first time on the lake.

I was using a soft plastic swimbait, when it got the boat all that was hanging out was the leader (thank god i had one on) She was hook on the left side of her mouth like where the jaw hinges. She was hungry. She swam away like it never happened, love to see that

Love to hear that good release info-

When I was there last month, some of our Pike were absolutely crushing our cranks, and I was amazed and concerened at how much damage they were doing to themsleves- the trebels were right through the roof of their beaks.  came right out & they swam away fine, but they must clamp down so hard & fast to make those hooks come through like that.

I know what your saying when they literally hammer a swim bait. This bass totally inhaled this bait. Hit it so hard I though she was twice the size she actually was. Nice fish none the less.

The fish was caught in PI Bay but just crushed the bait so hard the next fish that hit it broke the bait in half. It was one of those hinged swim baits now all thats left is the front half and a hook.
