lake arthur?

went down there swimming with my family sunday.  man, what a beautiful lake.  have never fished there.  understand that the channel cats are big and there are stripers there.  questions:  is there a good walleye fishery?  are there tackle shops to pick up gear or get info?  is it wadable at all?  any input would be appreciated and thanx......

Repala, you should check out the Southwest thread, check all the pages on Lake Arthur, there are Walleye's in there and it is wadable on most of the points, also Appalachian Trail bait shop on 422 east of rt 528.  Good luck.  John

Selection is vitually nil, and high prices. The shop on 528 has bait at "decent' prices, but very little tackle. O'Donnel's on Rt. 19 has a fair selection of tackle, and comparable prices. From I-79 take 422 west to the first exit Rt. 19 south. O'Donnel's is a half mile on the left.

Spoon , I agree with you. This is where we get our bait.

Also at Appalachian Trail, the guy counts each minnow and some times even gives you less.
The bait doesn't last very well either.

Yep! I was there about a month ago to pick up a dozen large shiners. When I got to reach in to bait a hook I was shocked to count 7 siners in my bucket! Ill never go back!

Wow! That's short changing you! Always happy  with Odonnel's on Route 19.
These guys probably had a very lousy Monday with the lake shut down also.

Thank God it was short lived. All the striper attics would have gotten withdrawals!

How bout those stripers fellas?  Are they hittin' decent right now?  And what time is a good time to head out?  Do i need the boat or can i hit them from sure?  Are they located in muddy creek?  Any info will help.
