Waterproof Drag

It's Christmas and Dad's "thinking" about a new spinning reel.  I currently own a great Okuma Epixor, several Shimano's, etc and for the most part have had good success with the reels, even in cold weather.

Here's my question.....

Last winter I accidently dropped one of these fine reels in the water.  It didn't take long for the drag to freeze and render it useless.  I noticed several of the newer reels have waterproof drags.  Does anyone have any experience with these and how they function in below freezing temps?  Ever get them wet?  Do you think they would perform better that the spinning reels without waterproof drags.  Any information would be helpful, and thanks in advance.

Some of the ones I have found are the Okuma Inspira, Shimano Saragosa (I know it's saltwater , but 100% waterproof), Shimano Stradic FI and Penn AF series.

I hear ya KK!  I looked further into my Okuma Epixor, it does have Hydro Block.  I guess this is the same as waterproof.  Maybe that is why it works the best out of all my reels.  If anyone one wants to buy me a Shimano Stardic though, I won't stop them.
