korker wading boots

I'm looking to get a new pair of wading shoes but don't want to get burnt. I was looking at the korkers with the interchangable soles. I like the idea of felt when freezing isn't an issue but don't want anything to do with felt in sub-freezing temps. This set up looks like the cats behind if they work. I am just wondering if the inserts stay put or if they have a tendancy to fall out. Anyone use them?

I just got my Korker Wetlands this year and they are great so far.  I have 3 different soles for them.  One is the plain rubber sneaker type sole, another felt with studs and lastly the rubber studded sole which I like the best so far.  I have not had any problems with the soles coming out or even moving.  They seem very tight and don't move period.  I'm very satisfied with them.  I did hear that they come out with new ones called aquastealth which are supposed to be awesome.  Hope this helps.

Now my next question. Does anyone in Erie carry them or do I need to get them on line?

    carp,

What size wading boot do you need? I have a pair of lightly used in either 11 or 12 that are too small for me. Last I checked I had the plain felt, normal lug sole, and carbide studs (not studs in a lug sole). I haven't fished them in almost 2 years.

I'd let them go for a decent price if you're interested.

FWIW, I like them a lot when I was fishing a lot. I'd normally have the felt soles in. If I was in the lake or fishing the summer bass streams I'd usually put in lugs. Same for brookie fishing. I used the carbide tips a few times on jetties in the salt and they grip great. I only got a new pair when my new waders had a heavier neoprene bootie and didn't fit. They were snug with the old waders, but with the new ones they were unwearable. I'm a 12 shoe for an every day shoe or hunting boot. I think these are 11's, but maybe 12's. If you're interested I'll bring them home with me this weekend and have them to ship to you.

    Thanks,
    Rick

Thanks Rick for the offer but I'm afraid that they are too big. I normally wear a size 9 and was going to go to 10's for some room. I'd hate to go too big and look like dumbo stumbling around

They don't seem to have Korker boots in FishUSA, otherwise I would recommend them....I got mine from Sierra Trading post online and you can get replacement soles on ebay if you do a search......Fishwest carries them, they may even have the boots....I hope this wasn't illegal here on the site since FishUSA doesn't have the boots.  I do, however, think that Korkers discontinues the Wetlands and have new models out there....I know that the replacement soles attach differently instead of the velcro.  Good Luck in your search.....

I just saw them at Gander down here in Harrisburg. They come with 2 different souls but not the studded ones and thats what I'm really looking for right now. I was hoping that fishusa carried them so I could just pick them up this weekend.

I just tried to PM you but apparently your inbox is full.  I might be interested in the boots that you described above if they're a size 11.  If you're still interested in parting with them and they're a size 11 shoot me a PM and let me know what you'd take for them including shipping.  I'm in Pittsburgh.

make sure you get the new style.  i've had both the old and new and the old style soles do not stay on as well as the new style.  the old style uses a velcro strap at the heel and the new uses a rubber strap with a button syte hole.  also the ols style soles are not available through korkers any longer.  that is why you see some of the korker boots selling real cheap on-line,  they are selling the old style.  i love the new style and the rubber sole studs are the best way to go all the time.  however if you are going to do a long walk-in hike, i switch to the rubber trail sole for the hike and switch to the stud to fish.

Korkers are nice and I wont dispute that, my friend just bought a pair the insirts do not come out without the tool that comes with them BUT why settle for second best when you are spending that kind of doe.  SIMMS AQUASTEALTH you dont need insirts and most fly fishing shops carry them so you can try them on before you buy them insted of online then find out they dont fit.

    Tippy,

Absolutely true.  I wear a size 12 shoe for normal shoes.  With a 3mm bootie I was squeezing into mine.  With a 5mm bootie forget it  For comfort, I'd have needed 2 sizes larger than what I have.

    Thanks,
    Rick

    Rick,
I have them as well, make sure you get the boa speed lace ones. They are about $30 more but well worth it. I have them and love them. I've never lost a sole  on them, however everytime I come back I make sure they are not loose. They have a tendency to pop out on one side occasionally. (That's after 2-3 days of fishing.

yea sometimes a sie or part of a side does pop out of the slot, it's easy to get it back in with the tool.  however, if your on stream and this happen and you don't havethe tool, a pair of hemos will substitute nicely, especially the curved ones.
