FANTASTIC.  I love to see this and I need to encourage my own kids!  Great picture and the memory will never fade, I am confident of that.

Thanks for sharing the pictures,

ORIGINAL: papinner

Great pics my boys 3 and he's always talking about fishing, but I think 3 is really pushing it I think 8 is a great age. Congrats

I started fishing a few months before my 3rd birthday. I'm 22 now and haven't stopped since.  3 might not be too young, as long as you keep them interested and keep them catching fish.

Congratulations Tex, to you and your daughter. She'll be hooked forever and will never forget that fish. Great stuff!

Tight lines!

I purchased a wright and mcgill Fly girl 7 foot 3 wt fly rod about 2 years ago............this christmas I will give the rod and matching reliance reel to her.................can't wait til' spring..........try hiding a rod until you feel the time is right!!!!!

my 3 year old son just said NICE FISH to the little girl in the picture...........hysterical

TEX,
Awesome, that picture made my day!  That smile was bigger than any fish!!

papinner-
3 isnt too young, maybe for steel, but get him into some gills maybe some small steam smallies and suckers, rockbass, farm pond largemouths, etc.  he will have a blast!  I started extemely young, now im 24, and i still drag my dad out.  on my kindergarten entrance interview, i told them my favorite birthday gift was a new fishing pole!
Getting kids out there is what it is all about!

my boys were probably about 3 when we started taking them fishing. I didn't get to do much fishing because I helped them the whole time, but that's how it goes when they're young. we didn't fish in erie back then, mostly small streams and lakes close to home

Wow, what great comments.  I am glad this thread has rekindled memories of what I\we experienced, as well as gave others that nudge to do the same thing.  As much as I love to fish, watching both my son and daughter enjoy the sport is much more rewarding.

Sorry guess I should have said 3 was to young to fish for steel I've had him at my aunts pond at 18months catching bass and blue gill. He did well with those fish I have a pic of him with a Largemouth that he caught in august on the same pond. So we fish, I just feel he's to small for steel I did try to take him out in sept. and that went ok but we didn't do much fishing spent more time playing in the sand. So sorry didnt mean to make people think I dont take my boy fishing. This year his 18 month old brother is going to get in on the action.
