Tupper Lake

I have fished Tupper Lake the last few winters with mixed success...  I usually fish the Simond Pond area near the sportsman's club, but I'd be open to other areas...  Any suggestions?

Cowboy:  Where are you from?  I have a camp on Eagle Crag Lake which is about 7 miles from Tupper.  I don't ice fish that much but have fished the Tupper Tourney several times, without any success.  I would think the main lake would be better fishing than Simon Pond and offers a bigger variety of fish as well, but I couldn't tell you where to fish it.  There's a bait shop just outside of town on Rt. 30 on the right a little ways past Sunmount.  I would think he would steer you in the right direction if you checked with him.

I'm from Pittsburgh, but I make a trip up to NY every winter to ice fish.  Our trip this year is January 22-25.  We usually go to Tupper and that is why I was wondering, but the cabin we usually rent was booked up. So we decided to go near Old Forge and fish the Fulton Chain.  Do you have any advice over in that neck of the woods?

If you're fishing pike - you might try Sodus Bay (near Rochester) or Sandy Pond or Henderson Harbor (between Pulaski and Watertown)!

Thanks for the advice.  I will have to check that out.  Have you ever fished near Old Forge in any of the Fulton chain lakes?

    cowboy:
I know you were looking toward the Tupper or Forge area but Schroon is very cool area with plenty of options.
I will be there and hope to have a gathering (conclave) going. If your liking this PM me or give a shout I can hook you up with good clean cheap lodging, cabin...

Thanks, Tuna. I appreciate it, but we already booked a spot and laid down a deposit on it...  we have a bunch of guys, maybe as many as 10, so we had to find a pretty big cabin that could accomodate a bunch...
