Wind vs waves

Anyone have any experience with the correlation between wind speed\direction vs. wave size close to shore?  I am bring my boat up regardless Saturday, staying through Tuesday.  If the wind is from the South\Southwest 10-20 knots (waves expected to reach 3-5 ft off shore) what will they be like close to shore?  I know North\Northeast winds of that speed make it almost unbearable for me to fish.  I will play it by ear once I get there, but am curious.

Thanks!

10 from the south wont be bad close to shore, 20 depending on boat size could get interesting.

You'll be fine. It shouldn't get bad until a couple miles out unless it is more westerly than south.
