I don't hunt a stand more than two days in a row. You may think you're doing no harm but when the squirrels quit barking and nothing in the woods moves for several minutes, you've disrupted the area. IMHO

I agree, your probably smelling up the stand area. Try having a few different stands or locations can catch em off guard. I have moved many times this year and just found another new area with some rubs and scrapes I'm am going to try next time out.

Find the does in that general area. He'll be seeking/chasing them.

Does are on the food, bucks are on the does, hunt the food.

Better too far back, than too far forward.

DEFINITELY BAIL! A move even 2-300 yards could be all it takes. I havent hunted any of my stands more then once yet and i dont have access to private ground.

carpin     Ive had a similar experience in a small woods....very small patch of woods i should say....lots of city smells,  planes esp....seeing how I was right by a airport.....I hunted it several times in a row....ruined the area. Everyhting they will do will be at night. Human odor is one thing these deer cant stand, esp when your rite in the middle of the woods.  Just try and get a few new spots and only hunt it when the wind, or conditions permit. It never hurts to have a few options. Hope that helps...Gluck

Thats tough when you have no private ground. I have a new strategy for next year because public land is getn tougher every year. Ill be heading for bigger woods or at least woods less traveled. Somewhere on my weekends i dont gotta worry about joe schmoe rolling in. Ive watched an entire area of 5miles go completely nocturnal. The deer have litterally quit moving until its almost too dark to see. Guys didnt do their homework, they waited till the last minute and now theres a bunch of monster bucks that are shut down, down down down down. Its time for different tactics and its a different world of whitetails then even just ten years ago. Youve really gotta think outside the box, hunt places that guys wont go and hit your hotspots in late season. Its either that or find a lease, which isnt an easy task. Anyone who has good property usually wont give it up if they have anyone who hunts in the family. Who in pa is related to someone that doesnt hunt? Its buy your own land or quit acting like everyone else, its a realization ive come to that i myself need to change.
