My opinion about the basin openning up is that we should leave that space for the less fortunate. Meanning that the space around the basin should be used more for those who have some sort of handicap that make it very hard for them to fish in more remote places. As well as its a good place to give a kid a chance to smile from ear to ear when they hook up with a steelie. I realized this space is special for kids and the elderly,gives them a chance to fish in a more easily accsessable area. Be a fishin buddy and step aside for those who cant go where you can go. Only reason im saying this is because i stopped fishing there 9 years ago when i saw some very selfish people kick some young ones out of the way for a spot in the basin and made 2 older gents leave in discust. I did however voice my opinion to the rude individuals that forced there way in and almost had them swimming with the fishes. But made it known to the warden inside the office instead of taking matters into my own hands. Needless to say i havent fished in the basin since. There are many many places to fish here in erie area for steelies and consider myself very fortunate to live here. Leave a good impression of yourself on others , So on that note tight lines and good fishing to all.
