Planner board mast?

I have a spot for a seat in the bow of my boat. Does anyone know if they make mast to fit in the seat hole? Thanks in advance.

Most of the guys fishing Lund Pro V w/single windshield will favor using the single masts that are designed to attach to the gunwale of the boat on either side near the bow. I fished the LOC on L. Ontario this year and noticed alot of the guys running "open" floorplan boats had the above mentioned setep. I guess if you really wanted to, it wouldn't be a problem fabricating a bracket to fit into the seat mount on the floor for your mast.

    Joe,

I have a big job planer mast that has the adapter for a bow seat.  You can find this on their website.  I also have 2 amish outfitter planer boards.  I have only used once and have considered selling them.  I like the inline boards better, but I have a hard time with the releases for Steelhead on the inline boards.  I may go back to using the mast boards.  Do you use the inline boards and if so what release do you use, and how do you attach line.  How you attach the line is different between Walleye and Steelhead per the instructions.

Tex i use inline boards and have braid line on all my rods. I double loop the front cilp when the water is pretty rough. Its hard to use planers in rough water. I lost one this past week end. I couldnt go get it because we where close to shore and the wind and waves carried to fast. I do the same set up for walleye.

Joe you just need to get the right clips for your inline boards....

Believe me big planer boards can flip too and cause quite a mess...If you like tangles and wasting hours fishing with big boards in rough water is for you!

What boards do you have?  I have run my Offshores in 5ft waves on occasion...

I am using off shore boards the yellow ones. Not yellow bird. Everytime I get a fish on i have to turn around and pick up a lost board. Im using braid. Maybe all I need is to adjust the tension? You say the mast wouldnt be what im lookin for? I value your opion.

    CB,

Do you double loop you line around your release like Joe?  I do this for Walleye, but for Steelhead i can imagine it would be more difficult to bring in the fish.  I followed offshore anglers instructions and have the line run through a swivel and attached to the release without the double loop.  Once released (if it gets released) the board runs down the line with a bead stopping the release before it gets to the leader.  (I have had alot of problems with both the release not holding the line, holding too long, etc.)

    CB & Joe,

Which releases do you use?  I tried offshore's OR 18, OR10, OR14 & OR 19's without much success.

Hook, I have tried those this last time out.  I was dissapointed.  I am using PowerPro 17lb braid.  Running it through the release.  Any idea what I could be doing wrong?

I use 30lb PP and only had it slide through once, the waves were pretty bad. I don't know what your doing wrong but you can always use a rubberband half hitched to your line and clip the rubberband.
