cubic feet discharge @ walnut?

in regards to the water gage the USCG has at walnut, what is a decent cubic foot discharge of water that still has a fishable flow? Both on the high and low side. Low side obviously now. I understand the creeks can be fishable at different levels if there is color and whatnot but in regards to that gage what is a good reading? Thanks guys.

Since the gauge was only recently installed (this past summer, I believe), I don't know if anyone knows at this point.  It hasn't been there long enough.

I was there Saturday afternoon and the corresponding discharge was between 110-130cfs.  It was flowing pretty hard and had some nice color, if it were not for all the leaves I would have said that IMO that is a very nice water level.

I was up last saturday and it was around 20cfs and eveything was pretty darn low.

Hopefully this will help put the pieces together for you.

    Discharge?  From where?

Discharge-  The volume of water in a stream/river that passes a specific point over a prescribed amount of time, hence the units of ft^3/sec.

Discharge does not only mean water released by a ****....

The discharge is only one of the many things that will come into play when I state the creeks are "perfect", but is most likely the most important.

I have been paying close attention to this gauge all year, and can tell you that the "best" discharge would be around 70-80 CFS. But I have also found that the best time to fish is during the "drop". When they start dropping I think the fish have had time to adjust and are starting to feed heavily and are on the move.

As far as the gage height...I believe that this is not as important for fishable water, but will make a differance in "new" fish moving up.

But I've always believed the best time to fish for anything or anywhere is anytime I can go!
    Hope this helps...

I've been watching these guages for a few years now and can tell you the discharge is the most important, and you can kinda figure it out from looking at it.  Just look at the peaks and the lows and you can determine what the flow is like.  Over 100 is high, anything lower than that is okay until you get to like the 40's.  You should be able to think about it and can figure what other streams in the area would be like too...
