Were to stay.

I will be fishing 20 and 16 mile next week. I was wondering were a man could lay his head for a night or 2. I dont need anything fancy. I would like the location to be close to the 2 streams mentioned.
Thanks in advance.

forget the colonial - it seems to be loaded with bookings this year.  I guess the PFBC's little advertising campiagn has been good for business, but bad for us guys that enjoyed just driving up there and never even having to make a reservation for years...:(  I guess that is the way things are with "the times"...

I'm best friends with the owners of the Colonial motel.  Weekends are pretty much booked but people cancel due to the weather, and November is busy, however during the week now they didn't have a single room rented.  Business is way down over last year so far.  I'm not trying to advertise, just telling the truth.

There's also Dohler's Cottages off of **** Road which is extremely close to 20 mile.  They don't have heat, a phone, or TV.  However they have a full kitchen with a stove and a hot shower.

If she were to move out by next steelie season im definetly going to advertise it for my fellow steelheaders. Can i do that on here?? or is that a NO NO !! Im all for makin it a little more comfortable and accessable to get to where you need to get to. I live right in northeast and only 5 minutes away from 12 16 and 20 mile cricks. Ohhhh how nice. Can someone let me know if i can advertise that on this site leagally?

Not regarding peacymike and his magic van.  As I obviously know nothing about that.

No heat?  Geez, must be cheap.  Have any idea on the price of these cottages?

How about the Lighthouse Inn & resturant? Right on 4 mile creek. Call East End Angler for their phone number. Clean rooms & great breakfast & lunch. That puts you on all the east side creeks, plus East End will clean your fish or you can exchange them for smoked just like PR. The Colonial would be my first choice though, they are great people.

theres a place called the glasshouse i think.....its not really close to the cricks, but it is close to food and beer, and its reasonably priced, very clean. its one of the really old motels, but instead of letting it go to crap, the people really keep up with it.  i like cheap and clean.

Someone with some land should open up a campground and keep it open all fall/early winter. Really simple, pit toliets, no water/sewage hook ups,  a small shower house. Just a place you could pull in with a tent, little trailer or pickup truck with cap. Just a place to sleep, build a little campfire etc...
Taylor it for fisherman, set up little bait/tackle shop at the office. I think you would be booked all fall and have some campers in the winter too. Most places close up at the end of October, it would be nice to have a place in November & early Dec. I'm not sure what insurance would run you, but I bet you could make a profit out of it. Any Thoughts. I think about 5 acres would be enough.

Guys. Thanks for your help. It gives me a lot of choices. I am thinking the Colonial, or maybe staying with Deetz sister.. lol..
I do not want to confirm a reservation.  If the fishing sucks I just want to go home. I live in St marys about 2 hours drive. From all your help I should be able to stumble in to one hotel if the fishing is good. Without laying down good coin..Up front..
    Thanks...
    and keep them coming

There is a Super 8 at 89 and I-90 with rates comparable to Colonial.
Very convenient to 16 mile and 20/ especially upper 20.

    Just a thought.

Pete, I pass the Super 8 on my way up. It seems like a place that wouldnt be over booked and depending on fishing conditions. I would have a good chance of getting a room.. With out reservations.
Is there a bar and resteraunt ???
    Thanks for the help

Don't know, but there are a couple of rest. in Northeast. One real good Italian place - Rizzo's I think.  Also Freeport on Rt. 5/89. Late night, the Truckstop at 90/530 is open 24/7.

Not sure how much Italian food you guys get up in the NW, but that place in Northeast might have been the worst food ever - and that was after a long day of fishing!

Only Italian place I eat at, or get sauce from is Nunzi's on E 38th.

I got the info second hand, maybe I got the name wrong. I stand corrected. I stand by Freeport, though, because I have been there
    several times.

The Truckstop, well, it's edible food, recommended when all else is closed,
like 3 AM on the way back from the casino in Salamanca.

Scotty would know more about restaurants in North East, but he's either
been banned or just stopped visiting here.

el Patio had $29 rooms last year, everyone remember the big billboard sign on 79 on the way up?  Does anyone know if they are doing that this year?  Any other $30 rooms in Erie?

The Super 8 in North East is closed as they've built a Holiday Inn Express on the property and didn't have enough parking spaces left to keep it open.  I highly doubt you're going to find a $30 a night room in Erie any longer.  Off to work so no time to discuss good restaurants.

Two weekends ago i paid $49 for saturday and $39 for sunday nights for a one bed room when the wife and i were up. I was told the $29 deal is no more. They did tell me 2 bed rooms during the week were $27 per person for 2 people. The girl said that was the same as last year and whats what we paid last year for the 2 bed room.

As far as the restaurants, I have had good luck finding some decent food in North East. Freeport is definitley a good place for an evening meal and an even better place for a breakfast. There is also a little pizza shop called Micheal's right in the town of North East, not exactly NY style pizza that I prefer, but actually quite a tasty pie for what the place looks like. Also have had some decent meals at the New Harvest Bar and restaurant, located right off of 90 by the motel. I think that is the place you are thinking of, strandman.

Back to the pizza, do any of you guys know any REALLY good NY style thin pizzas in the Erie city area? I try one new place or so each time, but so far havent found exactly what I am looking for. thanks.

keep going past 20 mile only about half mile
and you'll be in n.y. and on your left just up
the road on rt. 5 there's the motel the pines
just what your looking for and across the street
from it is plumbers bar & grille good food & drinks
all in all your only half mile from 20 mile and less
    than 2 mile from 16.
