No Problem.  Glad the info is helping out.  If you cant get em now...sell your boats...sell all your rods...all your reels....These are getting like the old Hay-Days I've always been told about.  Like "you shoulda been here" stuff.

If only we could get the gas down, alot more guys could be enjoying this....

Taz.  Bigger fish are in tight.  We popped 12 this morning in 18-25ft and threw a few back and lost a bunch on short strikes (some real heavy hitters in there) had 5 over 25", 2 up around 28", all the rest 21"+.  I couldnt get over some of the big hits we missed today.  Rod go flying over hit 4 or 5 times pick it up get 2 cranks in on em and they are just gone...Reel it in, worm is barely touched....All meat no boards...no junk

CB, are you running the cookie dipsys in that tight or just super short size 0's...I cant seem to get my head around the idea of running dipseys in 18 or 20' of water. We managed 14 today but really had to work for them. We were slightly deeper 28-32' but we only got 3 on harnesess/dipsy the rest came off boards and bang o's

Running size 0 dipsys back 50-65 on 3.5 (depending on depth) around 60 on average and we werent having problems

Cookie dipsys did ok for us back 65-70ft...I was running a fire tiger harness off a cookie that was taking fish, but never touched one on the other cookie with a shrimp harness on it....You just have to be on top of your rods in case you start to seem em wack bottom.  We hooked up one of 0s pretty good today and I ended up straightening out a set of hooks on the harness.  I couldnt get much going over 25ft for some reason when i got to 25ft they just kept coming so I just stuck in the area and kept going till we were done.....

We quit fishing at 10am.  Caught 15 walleyes threw 3 back, lost 2 at the boat, and had about 10 others that just never hooked up for whatever reason....It was a fun day...

Hot colors were Boy/Girl and Watermelon (go figure)

Thank you CB, I will try it next time I'm out. i just keep thinking that the water is warming up and they have to be moving deeper, but fishing is never the norm. Sometimes I wish I could just have a beer with a walleye and get thier prospective of things

This afternoon was a tough bite but we managed 7 and the good ol' stand by came through for us. Blue and silver, it does seem the dipsies were taking more fish today than the boards. Best depth this afternoon was 30ft between trout and the clay banks

CB, You're my hero, I just have to thank you! Took my son and brother-in-law out Friday and Saturday and got our FIRST EVER limit on Saturday, probably would have had one on Friday but we came in and waited for the storm to pass. Only my second year on the lake and didn't want to take any chances.

We have always concentrated on spoons and have done OK with them, but after reading your info we switched to harnesses and slowed down WOW what a difference. We even caught two 14" Walleyes (C&R) so we should have some to catch next season. Nearly all over 25" the largest was caught by my 12 year old son, 30" 9 pounder, he has his citation paper in the mail already (guess I'll be changing my pic) ! Very little junk fish, although I have to say it's fun to catch a 5# sheeps head when things are slow. Had most success with black watermelon harnesses with black and purple running a close second. I just need to figure out how to add that stinger hook on to catch those short strikers. With everyone doing the C&R thing these days, my brother-in-law didn't want to be out done, he was practicing H&R hook and release, lost at least 10.

Now if the fuel prices come down to something affordable things would be perfect.

Thanks again!

Awesome...Im excited for your son!!...Gota get the kids hooked on this...i kinda feel fishing is lacking in our younger generations.  I know personally none of my friends like fishing...and think im nuts for always going up there every weekend in the summer....

When I was 5 dad took me walleye fishing with a charter captain and we crushed the walleyes.  I to this day, I still have a 27" fish mounted on my wall we caught that day...I have been hooked ever since on this.

Im glad you enjoyed the trip...thanks for the comeback bud!

Carpetbagger,
May I ask what size treble you are using for your stingers?  I am gonna take off all the spoons and rig the trebles up on the harnesses.  They are what, maybe 3" from the rear hook when you tie them on?
I will finally make it out on the water this weekend weather permitting.  I don't have a big enough boat so I have to rely on my brother to take us on the big pond.  I have alternating weekends off, so I am always limited on time.
Thanks

I dont run stingers on my harnesses.  I run two 2/0 VMC hooks about 2-3" apart.  Sure i get an occasional short strike..but alot of times they just eat the whole thing....

Im thinkin about the weekend...not 100% just yet due to the weather...but hoping to go though.

I was tying exactly the same rig with the treble trailer last year and found that they were great on suspended fish, but if you are bumping bottom, they snag a TON.  I tie mine a little different in that I awlays tie 3 hooks in line.  I used some #2 gamakatsus octopus this year, but they are so brittle I don't really like them.  Almost everyone that I had to use the needlenose on to get out broke.

One other change that I made this year is that I have added a small swivel between the beads and hooks so that when I loose or break hooks, I can just tye them in without redoing the entire harness.

I will be there tomorrow morning. through monday probably......

Better too far back, than too far forward.

Gagakatsu is a very sharp hook...i used them exclusivly for years until finally broke down and got sick of paying so much for a few hooks.  I use VMC almost all the time now...Great sharp hook...good hook sets, and much better price....I can buy them in bulk too which makes it even better!

Musky let me know how tomorrow goes...im thinking of coming up but not 100% on it yet.  I really hate to sit out weekends...

The 2/0 mustad beak hooks work well and hit the wallet even better about .07 cents each . I only use two about 5 inches apart & do not miss very many ... in fact I've been even hooking small perch along with eys trolling LOL hope that changes  . Although mine are alot further apart than most I've seen tied .

The vmc hooks are even cheaper...I buy them by the box of 1000....

I never liked the mustads too much never seemed very sharp.....I think I have probaly about 80 or so of them if you want ill give em to you if you want.

Alright, I will leave well enough alone and just try the harnesses as they are with a slower trolling speed.
I was thinking about buying some fishlander willow blades, but the picture chart on greatlakesonline is real small and too hard to read if you zoom it in.  Is there any place I can get a better picture of these?

Now that is much better.  I think I would like to tie up about a dozen.  Not sure what kind of stuff I'll need.  Beads, hooks, and some way to attach the blades.  I like the looks of those blades.....
