Hatches now?

Besides caddis what flies are hatching? Saw a large brown flying? Thought this was good today.

I was out yesterday... not a lot going on here in the finger lakes.  Its unseasonable cold here that might have something to do with it.  I ended up fishing with streamers, had an allright day.  I guess the rest of the nation is in heat wave, it was 33 degrees on my way to work this morning and didn't get above 50 all day.  Good for the brookies.

I saw just a few on Neshanic. I was thinking march brown but was not sure. Not much else that I saw.

Dan, the fly I saw that day was big and not as dark. Looked like the brown though. Sorry I didn,t get back to ya sooner, caught the nasty flu. Even got the flu shot this year. Haven,t had the fly rod out since, but am itching to go.

I noticed the last couple times I was fishing Slippery Rock creek this week, there were insects about an inch long with wings coming out of the water and scurrying up the rocks.  My only guess was a  stonefly, but I really have no idea.  I would like to figure it out soon, though so I can try to "Match the hatch" and try fly fishing again before the alge gets too bad.  Any guesses are probably better than mine.

Startin...yes they are stonies, if they are crawling out anyway.  I live on the Slip 7.5 miles south of the flyfishing section.  There are a number of them in the spiderwebs in the morning aound here lately.  There was a pretty good hatch of what looked like sulphurs last couple of weeks but it slowed down this week considerably.

Thanks GM, I'll have to try them both.  Maybe tomorrow if it's not too high and muddy.
