What do you use for carp bait?

I always been told to use dough balls.I been wanting to try to catch them (some nice ones round here).
What do you use?

    I have used every thing that you can think of passed down from genaration to genaration ! the  best thing IMO is get 4-5 pieces of bread wet 1/2 of it get another piece add it to  it  keep adding bread & little water till it is a nice dough ball . you can add strawberry jello . vanilla any flavoring you want . I don't add nothing .

    anybody have any luck on the prepared carp baits? i bought some at cabelas this winter and was wondering if this stuff is any good, or should i go back to making my own dough bait.

    the early bird may get the worm, but the second mouse gets the cheese.

    I've heard alot about catching them on softshells in the rivers.
