Greenlick-jacob's creek

Ok, just where is Greenlick Lake?  Is this the same as Bridgeport Res?  or is it Jacob's creek park?  Is Greenlick in Fayette county or Westmoreland?  Are any of theres off Mud School Road?    Map quest  just gave me try again answers.

Read something on this form last year? about carp fishing at Greenlick lake.  Something about lots of fish just small,  no lumbs.  Would like to try it out this spring.  Just not sure where it is.  requesting some help

Jacob's Creek Park  AKA  Greenlick,  is in Fayette Co.  Bridgeport Dam is nearby & is located in both Westm'd Co. & Fayette Co.  I am not sure about Mud School Rd., but think that is correct. The road past the lake starts or ends, depending on which way you come, on Rt. 982  BTW is that you Al?   sam

Walt, Maybe it would help if we could get some people from Fayette Co. to call the Co. Comm. & ask them to get that emptied it would help. Could you post some names & phone # ? As I said previously the PFC told me that they will not empty it.I guess that they are waiting for someone to set the **** thing on fire before they act.   sam

Sam, I don't know his phone number but here is his name and e-mail address where he works for the county. He'll probably hate me for this but go ahead and write to him.

Thanks for the directions to Greenlick.  Garbage--dumpster not cared for.  Is this one of thoes places to fish during the day only?   Fishing at night alone in the eveing or night best with a buddy?   Shame, more and more fishing sites seem to have to include a question of is this a reasonably safe place.

Well,  will pack a extra garbage bag and probably give the lake the old college try toward the end of this month.

I fish it regularly at nite without much problem. Sometimes you'll get some party people drinking a bit too much or have a few parkers. No real danger. About the biggest problem I ever worry about is watching out for the striped cats.

I think there is a no firearms regulation for the park so if you carry best to keep that information to your self.

its a nice lake and most that frequent it are nice people, but for some reason you always find a mess when you fish the mornings, we always take a couple of garbage bags of garbage out everytime we go, I'm not trying to sound like a saint I see alot of guys doing the same thing, just wish something could be done with this other then us ****in about it on here.

The dumpster and trash are still there with people still throwing household garbage on top of the heap.

I was out there this past evening about 9pm when three cars pulled in about 75 yards from me. A couple of guys and at least one girl(woman). Saw them beat the snot out of a guy as he lay on the ground. One guy on top punching him and then several guys kicking him. I headed over with a flashlight and yelled at them but they just ignored me. I got within about 25 yards and yelled and they got back into the cars and left. The way that guy got beat I'd say he had to take a trip to the ER. I was a little concerned about getting too much closer for fear of my own safety. Got one plate number and gave it to the local police.

The man was not jumped and beat there, he was one of the occupants of the three cars. He was then put back into a car and taken away. There were about seven people all together.

Last night was a decent night to gather nightcrawlers untill it started to snow. That cold wind and snow drove them back into the ground. Managed to get a little over 200 before the temperature dropped to near freezing.

Can Greenlick be fished effectively by shore or should I plan on taking the boat when I go out there?  Since it is fairly close, I want to get the wife and daughter out a little more this spring.  Also, are you allowed to be out in a boat at night on the lake or do you have to be off the water at sunset?  I know it is electric only.  Is the ice totally off yet?

When the weather warms a bit more I want to do some carping at Greenlick.  Maybe meet TACKLEBUSTER and WALLYCAT  .   Thank again for the info and invitation to fish

General question.   Can a PM be sent to a screen name on this forum?  I yes, then will PM  when I can get there  hopefully  when locals are there just to enjoy the park.

gills, boat is prob. best since 1 whole side is mostly inaccesable from shore. BTW you can fish off of the breast if you don't break a leg getting down to the water. some nice fish in there but since the water is usualy so clear it can be tough to fish during day-light. The dam end is deepest:20to 30+ ftow with little structure. You are allowed to fish at night ,from shore or boat. The ramp is shallow,&every-time they replace the light someone knocks it out.The lake is beautiful but the rest rooms are usualy disgusting.  sam

We night fish all of the time for the stalked blue channel cats....never had any issues other then drunk people falling from there tree stands and a few parkers in the back lot.  The fish commision watches the lake closely at night.  ive been checked numerous times (and i carry my 357 and he has never said anything).  The only wacko we ran into was a guy who thinks hes the gate keeper and watches the place.  Really weird guy.  buring the day we slay the carp and bass early in the season. Walyee is also picking up in the lake also.  Also not even 5 min from green lick is the new ****....well thats what i call it.  it is another lake that is infested with carp.  we bow fish it all of the time during the day.  You need a permit to night fish there.  Let me know if you ever want to meet up to fish some.

A new dam? Infested with carp? Where is this place? Do you need permission to fish it at day as well or just night?
