Trump 2024
I figured sooner or later someone will start this. Opinions?
How did the person who invented the first clock know what time it was?

I'll vote for however wins the primary in the general over Biden. Biden has been even worse than expected. If DeSantis runs, I'll vote for him in the primary, if he doesn't, then well Trump will cruise to the nomination. Zero chance Trump can win a general election, imo. Totally can see where RDS wins the GOP nomination, and Trump goes 3rd party just for his ego.

Purely coincidental. I started it before I was aware of the indictment. The indictment itself should generate some opinions.

2024? How about 202LIFE? The former president will be a non-factor in 2024. Oh, there will be lots of sound and fury, however, I think the GOP might actually get a little bit smart and produce a candidate that represents more than culture wars and grievance (our retribution!). At least I hope they will. Call it the "Bidenization of the GOP. Desantis, with the personality and presence of a turnip, also has no chance. Not saying the GOP can't win the presidency in '24...especially against JB, just not with either of those two guys. Personally, I think the incumbent pres would announce his decision to not run if he was sure that Trump was out of the picture.

Oh, I think Big D has a chance for sure, helmet hair and all. If Biden gets the nomination it will surely be a "Weekend at Bernies" f-in Halloween show...what a joke. Just imagine if both parties bolstered a candidate that was actually interesting, knowledgeable and unifying...pipe dream I guess.

This is all a show by those that really run the country. Stir the pot when it seems like both sides are starting to get along. So much for any traction on keeping politicians accountable. Maybe another 2-3 years to hear anything about insider trading from our leaders again?

Look, we all know here, rich people don't go to prison. But, if he broke the law - he broke the law. It's a bad thing for the country.

I think he'll switch it up depending on where he's stumping. I can't wait till he says: "Where's MY Italian? Can my Italian stand up?"

The funniest thing about this indictment is that if Trump had just come out and said “yea I banged a porn star” it would have made zero difference. It would have been totally on brand and his base would have just excused it away like they excuse away everything else. Paying her hush money was totally unnecessary. But it’s like he has this pattern of getting himself in more and more trouble for doing unnecessary dumb, illegal shiit. What a brilliant mind.

He didn’t have the cult following then though. Even he didn’t realize how many people would excuse whatever he did in the name of “sticking it to the Dems”. That is 100% what Trump is and ever will be. They will excuse everything, as long as he does whatever possible to “stick it to the Dems”. This whole indictment thing brings him back to relevancy for the cult. It is having all of the Dems cheer that he is getting “punished”. When he takes a plea deal or ties it up in court for 10 years, his cult will find nothing better than yelling to Dems that it was all made up and he was never found guilty. It is all a “witch hunt” no matter what the actual evidence says. If Tucker and the others go on Fox and say witch hunt, that is what it is, regardless if caught saying the complete opposite off the air.

Couldn't agree more. The law is the law. I know you mean this in a "whatabout" way, but hey - if there's evidence of crimes committed by someone, investigate, and if possible indict. No one is above the law.

Why would the IRS be involved in a NY state case? Hope to see the indictment next week. Be interesting to see the charges officially.

My sentiments exactly, PSU. In Pennsylvania, our primary is so late (May) that any of the "also rans" are normally gone. Our vote usually just becomes a confirmation vote. Should DeSantis run and survive 'til our primary, I'll vote for him. If not, then Trump would get both votes, primary and general. We've had nearly 8 years of Trump, Trump, Trump 24/7, and if he's still in, we've got another year of it until next years' primary. The Democrats and the media are gonna stay on it until he dies. But Gawd! What if he'd win? We're lookin' at a minimum 5 more years of pound him, hammer him, berate him, incriminate him. Personally, I'd be hard pressed to take that again. Any Republican at all, no matter who, will always be wrong. If they cut taxes to spur growth in the economy, it'll be wrong. If they raise the SSI retirement age to 70 in an attempt to save it, it'll be wrong. Won't matter what gets done, until the next big spender 'Crat gets in, it'll be wrong. PS: If Trump runs as a third party candidate, it's Ross Perot all over again, and the 'Crats are in. If Manchin runs as a third party candidate, then the republican wins. There's been whispers that Manchin is so POed at Biden and Schumer rolling him on the energy bill that he may consider a third party run. That's crap! If Biden runs, he should primary him. If Biden don't run, then Manchin should just throw his hat in and do it. He'd only have to beat to "Loser" governors from California and Illinois to win the nomination, (and oh yeah, the lady with the best selling novel who jumped in as the first candidate for the Democrat primary).
Never try to argue with an idiot. They'll bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.

I think the media is saying that he had an affair with Daniels, and Trump is saying that he didn't. If they just ripped one off and then went their ways, it just ain't that big of a deal. Avanati rolled Daniels into thinkin' she was gonna get big money, which after the payoff, he not only took that money but the rest of her meager fortune too. BTW, non-disclosures are not illegal. They're done all the time, most likely in the "Big Money" avenues of Politics and NYC.

Manchin didn’t really get rolled on anything though, McConnell did. Although manchin’s WV approval took a dip because he played nice with democrats on the inflation reduction act, he still mostly got what he wanted in those deals. I don’t see manchin running third party or challenging Biden in any way for the presidency. That’s a stretch. Although he might leave the party and do the “independent” thing like sinema did, but it would only be for statewide WV office. I don’t know how that would affect his chances of re-election in WV though. If he runs as an independent and gets challenged by a more liberal democrat in a general election, then a republican candidate could end up with a plurality if the D vote splits. He might just end up shooting him self in the foot. I’m having a very hard time imagining a scenario where Trump wins a general election in 2024. His legal trouble seems to be inexplicably making him more popular with republican primary voters, but I don’t think it will have the same effect in the general. I would not be surprised if alot of republican lawmakers are already giving up on the next couple of election cycles because of Trump. The senate map is favorable for republicans in 2024, but trump could blow it. If they don’t make up ground in the senate in 2024, republicans might have to wait another 6 years to have any kind of real shot at winning a senate majority. And by 2030 Trump should be out of the picture, so I have a hunch some republicans are just planning long term for what happens then.
