Well......

I went fishing today (Sunday). BWO's drifting everywhere, but no risers. Saw 3 rises all day. I don't know if it was the blue sky (Brown Trout Stream), if a Heron had been there before us or what- but we didn't get any to hand.
My friend from NY had a swipe on a streamer. Fun to watch..
I had a nice one on, but the hook pulled (my fault). I had a monster take not once, but twice. I pulled the hook out of his mouth both times.
The new rod is ok, but way strange compared to the XP's I've been fishing for so long. The timing of the rod & the extra foot made things a little difficult.
I am in the habbit of placing the fly where & how I want- didn't happen much today.
I may just need a good practice session too.
Didn't take any pics.- I forgot the camera at home. I feel kinda bad- my friend drove 5 1/2 hours hoping to catch a fish & we Skunked out.
The stream we fished is notoriously difficult- but a few more risers would have won the day I bet.....

Hmm... i too was out sunday and i didnt see an olive but i found some midges. BWO biot nymph rocked em and so did al's rat drifted right down on the bottom with the nymph. I took prob 8-10 fish in two hours. I wasnt even gonna fish but my girlfriend made me angry... i ended up fishing. Glad I did, saw one other guy with a spin rod and he wasnt doing well. The fish were in the slowest of the slowest water I could find. The fast deep stuff... just not there, the water is too cold and I think they move over to feed.

I fished YC today. Saw just enough olives to get the fish rising. Caught a couple on cdc emergers and duns. It was nice to fish for some risers.

I also fished YC yesterday, with the noodle rod. Caught about 5 a piece between my Dad and I. For some reason, they just weren't as active as a week or two ago. Had to work for em'. Did get a couple of very nice fish though.

Fished again today. Had a big fish take a nymph. She rolled to the surface & popped the hook. It sucked.

    Dave,

Sorry I didnt get back to you sooner, i didnt notice your post. I was fishing the molly hole in the afternoon. It was likely me.

The olives should be hatching heavier this week on YC. Hopefully the stream doesnt get blown out with the snow melt and rain.

I fished the Little J today. Saw a few olives, and a few more midges. Picked up a few rocks in the stream. There is a TON of sulphur nymphs crawling around. Saw lots of blue quill nymphs as well. Landed one nice bow and a couple browns.

Are you all just dry fly and nymph fisherman or do you also use streamers. I caught many trout in the FFO sections using dry flies and and nymphs but none any bigger than 16". I did catch several trout over 20" on streamers there. Was wondering if any of you had luck on bigger trout on dry flies or nymphs? Biggest trout you all ever caught in Yellow Creek FFO?

What ever floats your boat, just keep it on your side of the lake...

Yeah. I get time for a little fishing from time to time.
Big fish are nice when one comes to hand, but overall is not for everyone.
Lots of fishless days if that's the path one chooses.
At least that's what I've read in books.
