What do you look for in a good salmon/steelhead spoon

Hello,
I will be launching a new lure line in the late summer/early fall of 08.  What do you guys look for in a good steelhead or salmon spoon?  Right now I am working on the finest quality steel and brass, Owner hooks and I am thinking of powdercoating them instead of painting becuase all of the painted lures that I use start to lose there finish after a few fish or fishing in the rocks.  Let me know what you guys think I am very interested, colors, weights lengths  hooks?

Thanks guys!

Look at what people have put on their posts and also get with some of the tackle shops in Pulaski and see whats selling  I myself would like to see some lures that work well at higher speeds say 3 to 4 mph

If it zips through the water, it flies to the trash.  A spoon has got to have lots of action to get bites.  Too many on the market with little to no action.  That's why I love Cleos and William's Wablers.  You make it shimey and shake, it'll catch fish.

Fished them for the first time on Oswego last Nov.,hammered fish on them. There were three of us and one guy put one on,just goofing around and within minutes all three of us had fish with them. Then some guy walk's up and ask's what we were using, showed him ,up the bank he went, came back with spoons for him and his buddy, and they started catching them.It started off as a joke to me,I was catching fish on a noodle and flies. They do work and I have added them to my arsenal.Mainly Little Cleos chrome/blue,painted rainbow colors.

Sutton 44. Best spoon ever made. Make sure it's single hook though if you use it in the tribs.

I have a spoon in the works called a chubby limerick, its a shorter fat blade with Lots of wobble, what is this about having to have a single hook in it to fish the tribs? do spoons have to have single hooks to fish the erie and ontario tribs?

    Thanks guys!

The NY Ontario tribs have a single free swinging hook requirement,I'm not sure what they require on Erie tribs, also not sure about Penna. tribs 'cause I don't use spoons in the tribs but have in the lakes.I would suggest you read the regulations from both states, you can read them on-line.

This being a Salm0on River Board, I really don't worry abour Erie or Pa Regs when I post.  Definately single hook for all but floating lures in most of the lengths of Ontario Tribs, SR from the Route 3 bridge upstream.  Single hook allows for faster release outn in the Lake as well.

Seasonal Regulations for Great Lakes Tributaries
    Hooks
    • Hooks attached to any lure, except an artificial fly must be free-swinging.
    • Hooks may have a gap (distance between the shank and the point) of no more than one half inch.
    • Use of hooks with added weight is prohibited, except that artificial flies with no more than one-eighth ounce of added weight may be used. For the purposes of this regulation, the method by which weight is added to a hook does not affect classification as an "artificial fly" provided the conditions of the definition of an "artificial fly" are otherwise met.
    • Only one hook with a single hook point is permitted, except that floating lures may have multiple hooks including double and treble hooks only as permitted below.
