Mike,

You have to store the photo somewhere like photobucket or in the photo album on this site.  Some files tend to be too big with the new high megapixel cameras out there, therefore you might need to convert the photo to a smaller size jpg. file.  Then when you want to post the pic, you simply go to where you have it stored, such as potobucket, right click and copy the properties URL.  To attach it in a post simply put   Thats the HTML code.  Hope this helps.

Me and my friend would argue all the time about how heavy a fish would be. So i finally got tired and broke down and bought a official certified boga grip that goes to 30# nice slick little tool for a $100 bill. So like a day after i bought it  we was fishing Elk he was on one one side i was on the other. Well after landing a few fish he hooked one and he's like here we go there's a 11# ER. I started laughing cause to him every fish is 9 or 10 plus. So i let him say what he wanted to say. Now remind you he had no clue i bought the boga grip so i proceed to walk over to him to weight his fish, the fish was exactly 8 1/4 pounds. He argued that the scale was off, sorry it's dead on. Till this day he still likes to think every fish he catches is 10+ when really it's 6/1/2 or 7 pounds lol. I just let him think what he likes too think.

Take a picture and let all the people that see it take a guess.Add all the guesses together .Divide by 2 and you end up with A GREAT FUC*ING TIME.

So if we are all this bad at estimation, does that mean our wifes are actually skinnier than we think?

yea, weight and length are easy to exaggerate, especially on follows... But when that follow comes, and his head looks like a garden shovel.....hang on!

I donno, but know women are poor judge of distances?

all their lives they'ver been told this* is 10 inches
(* thumb and forefinger showing a 4" span)

I love the line;

"I caught fish so BIG
the picture weighed 10 pounds"!!

...............................................

Most over estimate fish weight.
whether that's an honest miscalculation or intended exageration...only the story teller knows for sure.

I figure with "most", it's simply a miscalculation cause they've never actually scaled many fish to know any better

You guys are all talking about big fish but what about smaller fish like crappies or bluegills. Here's a picture of a crappie i got last april from Ky lake. It measured 18 1/4" and was weighed on a digital scale. Just for fun, what do you think it weighed.

My guess is somewhere between 2 1/2 and 3 1/2 pounds...If I had to guess exactly by looking at your photo, I'd say 2 3/4 to 3 lbs.

10 lbs.   All fish are...

This reminds me of what we all used to say in grade-school: "My Dad is bigger than your Dad."

Poking fun at this because I really do not see what the big deal is about.

Enjoy and let others do the same.

All my fish are actually BIGGER than what I say they are.  I just like to remain humble and stay amongst the "common" fisherman.

Someone should start a thread of fish pictures with their known weights so people like me that do not know the weight of fish can begin to get an idea of how much their fish might weigh.  I have no idea how much the one below weighs... any guesses?  (Thanks ShutUpNFish... it worked!)

Dont go hanging any steelie from a scale by the gill plate or head for that matter unless you plan on keeping it. I dont want to hear how they all swim away just fine because that doesnt mean anything. Very stressful on the fish.

The safest way for the fish is to leave it in the net, hook up your net to the scale & weigh. Then subtract the weight of the net.

Something I've always wondered. Time after time I read reports stating we got X amount of fish, the biggest being approx 11-12 lbs,the rest in the 7-9 lb range. (just an example). I carry a digital scale with me cause what looks to be 7-9lbs. turns out to be 5-6 and one you'd think went over 10lbs. didn't crack 9. Happens all the time. It's not that I'm bad at guessing weights etc. but looks can and are decieving. Does anyone else wonder about this??? The few times I've posted weights they are on the money not wild guesses. Just my observations.
After reading some reports I HAD to bring this up again...ONLY ONE WAY TO BE SURE.... Hate to kill a 9#7oz. fish trying to get a patch.  Dave

I don't like to kill these magnificent fish. I do not know what I would do if I suspected that one of my catches was > 13 lbs. I have one mounted from the Niagara River that was exactly 13 lbs. It was caught a long time ago. I lost one on Elk last year that I am pretty sure was over 12 lbs. I had it up to my feet twice, and was reaching down with my forceps when the hook actually broke at the bend. I hate it when that happens. My dad had a very large fish on at Walnut last season, but we never landed it. I also hooked a big male at Walnut last season that took me straight up over the first little waterfall at the chutes, but he never looked back and broke me off like I was using kite string. There are big ones in there, but I think that the average is around 6 lbs. or maybe even 5.
