Koon Lake Trout Fishing

Anyone have any experience fishing Koon Lake for trout? I have fished it for bass in the past but never trout... I know the PFBC stocks it and it holds trout year round, was wondering if anyone has any experience there?

And, I was wondering if you can launch a boat there via a trailer or if they still make you carry them in? THANKS!

Never really fished for the trout.  Yes, you can launch a boat there but you have to carry as they have it blocked off.

I saw the ramp a couple weeks ago when I was up in PA visiting family. It looks better than many and then there is this ugly red thing in the way. Why would you build such a nice ramp and then block it off so no one can use it? Hard to launch an 800 lb boat by hand. Guess I will be relegated to the canoe. I am thinking about heading a bit south into MD and fishing Lake Habeeb at Rocky Gap State Park. I have heard they stock browns and rainbows in it...

I think you have to "carry in" because this is Cumberlands' water source and they don't want gas motors on it.  Don't know for sure .  Also, knew a fella who ice fishes it and trout fishes there, does pretty good on the trout.  Used to fish it w/ 12' boat, did good on the bass.

It is Cumberland, MD's water supply lake, as is its sister lake Gordon Lake. But if you can carry in a 10 foot john boat and use an electric motor, why can't you launch a 14 ft tracker and use an electric motor. There are many other lakes where guys just keep their gas motors up and use their eletctric and no pollution occurs. I guess I am just angry at the waste of a resource...
