Thanks Clint for the info and your time in getting it for us.
Wiped out most of my other posts as they were getting too long and speculative without solid info-
That said, reality isnt far from what seemed to be up.
I really trust the NY hatchery folks.

Basically they are hedging there bets.  What is going to happen  is going to happen in 17-18-19  as the fish are already in the lake.

In the end Ma Nature is boss.
Can only do ones best to work with it.
Hope to still be around fishing when the bounce back happens, towards my mid 70s -- lol.
Gonna keep on keeping on, despite any lousy numbers- just like everyone else here.
Just hope the Steel and Hos don't get too yanked in the river as they will be easier people prey without the usual numbers of Kings during the silly seasons.

The fact they caught a stocked brown , sit I'll have season passes or they are 30% off lodging ?
Some places that cater to fishing are going under , lots of stuff closed up & for sale right now . The camping - summer scene is thriving though

I'm guessing, in my very uninformed way , that the new "good" is predicated on last year. Sporadic runs,  a few fish to be played with if you put the time, money and effort in, and reduced expectations if you want to go home happy.  Likely to go down from here.  That lake isn't supposed to be as clear as Tahoe. Quite a while ago, I stood on  a park wall  in Chicago looking at the bottom in 25 feet or so of water and wondering if  the sterility was going to eventually catch up .  Here's a little explanation without a layer of scientific brain fog for us mere mortals.  https://www.nwf.org/Wildlife/Threats-to-Wildlife/Invasive-Species/Invasive-Mussels.aspx
