Absolutely not.  Posting specific holes (particularly on smaller streams) is irresponsible (especially from a shop owner) and should not be tolerated by the site or its members.  I really don't think it was necessary to even mention 16 mile.  What was the goal?  Possibly to have 1000 guys show up this weekend? Perhaps they could all stop and buy some minnows and hooks?  Ridiculous...  I am adamant about this.  I have seen more land go private/posted because of irresponsible anglers than any other action (this includes spot burning on the internet).  I will not respond again to this.  It is clear how I feel and I know that I am not alone.

avidangler, when you report ALL STREAMS ARE FROZEN ON THE EAST SIDE EXCEPT.... where are the 1,000 guys going to fish?? have you ever been to the creek he mentioned that is not frozen? the creek isn't that big and enormous to handle a ton of guys. again, coming from a bait shop i also feel it was unnecessary. imo.
i don't mind someone for the first time announcing a business but to advertise with every post isn't right.
can you imagine if every business in erie starts to advertise on this sight??   ~dt

The emmisions are bad and they are in the tons. I don't have an exact amount in front of me right now. The real problems lies with the mercury that will not be able to be taken out of the water that will be discharged from the treatment plant and ends up back in the our Lake.

In my experience with the DEP, they will not just stand by and let that happen.

Guys, I was just up fishing last week. On Friday morning 20 mile had more guys than fish!! On a positive note, I fished in the bay and had a blast. The best thing was there was NOBODY else fishing. The only down side of fishing in the bay is that you MUST have a long net or you will almost never land a fish. Two years ago I was up this same time of year. Very few fisherman(on both east and west side). Just like hunting you MUST adapt or success will suffer greatly.Don't get me wrong I do miss fishing the streams all alone(colder temps) but trust me guys Erie is NO SECRET anymore, infact crowding will only get worse. You must always be looking for another HOT spot, stream, bay, or even in the lake.

Capn, here is a link to what some of the longtime members here think is acceptable as far as posting fishing reports.

Heres an idea,

Perhaps start your own website and put your specific reports on there if you want to, just not here.  I would like to see a bait store on the eastside provide a good report, but think about how many yay hoo's will show up after reading that...im glad you like fishing and want to help people but specifics (on this site) are frowned upon for good reason.  Like everyone said, advertising is fine, we just don't want lukers on this sight spoonfed for what we have spent fishless days working for, catch the drift?

Except for 20 Mile on the East, and Elk Creek on the west side, none of the streams can support more than 3-5 guys to a hole.  As for someone giving out specific holes  (if you know the stream in question...there are only 4 fish holding spots anyway!!)  If I, or anyone on this forum give out a specific area it's because-- I think or know
 1. There are enough fish to keep everyone interested
2.I'm done fishing and it's your turn.
 3.  Most Importantly, this is a fishing report website and and that is what the reports are for ! Geez, I never heard of a baitshop owner giving out info about surrounding area fishing spots, and promoting fishing and catching!

I have to agree that to post specific creeks and exact sections of the creek is only asking for problems. I live 60 miles away and really appreciate info on general creek conditions and poor fair etc. fish numbers,  but believe you are doing the fishery more harm than good being so specific. It's nice knowing there is another shop on the East side as I do most of my fishing there.

OK - so is everyone done bashing now?  There's a new bait shop on the east side -- no need to promote but it's a good piece of info many of us could use when we fish out there.

I think that was the title of this thread???  Now it's a bash-fest on someone's business and personal character.

CaptnKirk has learned...he even acknowledged everyone's point of views and said he'll abide by not posting specifics.  LEAVE IT ALONE ALREADY!
