@ josh. take the course and give it a try. it is way easier and way fast and way cheaper putting a bunch of cables out. find the trax in the snow and you will have a yote by a cable. that is one of the yotes only flaw. they will use the same trail or crossing over and over.

Do you use the white cables in the winter? How do you account for snow sink when setting for height or do you pack the snow down.

i just boil the cables good in baking soda and they will get a dull grey color. i walk straight on the trail that im setting the snare to back the snow down like something has been using the trail. after setting i back straight out the same trail with out disturbing anything else. works fine for me.  when we had that good snow all winter 2 years ago, i ended up with 22 yotes. get out and find the trax and that makes it alot easier.

Thanks, I quit trapping before cables became legal so not real up on them. I have a couple regular yotes across from the house I told a local about but If he doesn't go after them I thought I might try to cable one.

fayette county doc. 3 where in footholds. 17 came from 1 area. the year before in the same area( which was my 2nd yr using cables) i cabled 5. if u find trax on a trail, and cable it, leave them there for along as you can. yotes can travel a great distance a may not be back in that area for weeks. at first i would pull them if no catches after 2 weeks or so. since i started leaving them there, i started catching more. thats what nice about cables, you can put a bunch out and not go broke. that same area now has the new turnpike running past it and there ia a bridge and a fence blocking the area. i hardly have anytrax and havent kot 1 there this year. that year i kot a bunch i had over 30 cables out at 1 time.
