It is going to be stocked on Feb. 19th. Her chances will be better then. There are some nice ponds near my house (1/2 hr. north)  that should be great for beginners if you wanted to give em a try some weekend.

ooo great! thanks crappie.. r the ponds open to the public where your talking about ? if its a spot that u dont want to tell then im cool with it.  if she catches a rock bass or a trout then that would be like the best day in my life! i think we need more woman anglers out there any ways. i just hope she can stick it out in the cold

They are private ponds but the owner lets us fish em. There are L/M, big Gills, crappie, not many perch, BIG cats, and a few pike. I been stockin em for 20 years off & on. My youngest son let a l/m go in one this summer around 10 lbs.

The wood burner at the house will be on if she gets cold

One of my sons caught prob. one of the biggest carp around this year & let it swim free.
My youngest son prob. caught one of the biggest L/M this year also. He ran all the way home to
get the camera  We ended up lettin it go in one of the ponds.
I'm still fishin, trying to catch up to my kids fish
They even harvested biger bucks than I so far.

Man it would nice to be 16 again & live up here.

Pm me sometime if you are fishin Lake Arthur or wanna try a pond.

Id be real careful fishing North Park through the ice especially first ice lake is shallow and has a fair flow seems to take longer tha Lake Arthur to freeze

Usually by late January North Park is safe, although you should monitor the air temps.  Simple common sense tells u, if it's above 32 for more than a week, u might not want to chance it.
North Park will yield any species ice fishing, ive had success there in the past.  Many times u don't even need to dig a hole, they are already dug for u.  Throw a minnow on one, some maggots on another, and wait.  The great thing about fishing on the ice with kids is, they can slide around and have fun while they wait.  Just make sure u look over the area they will be sliding around on first.  Stay away from the spillway.

"Come, follow me," Jesus said, "and I will make you fishers of men."
