2 Suckers!

I'm looking for some insight into catching bait.  We found a nice spot on a small stream that had at least 30-40, 9-12" suckers in it.  My buddy set up on one end of the spot with a net and I got in the water pushing the bait toward him.  We ended up getting one.  When they saw him they turned around and came past me back into the hole.  After several attempts these fish just disappeard.  We tried several other spots only catching 1 more for a total of 2.  We even came back to the original spot that was loaded with fish and did not see any.

I think if I had a net as well that would've helped.  But I'm looking for advice on catching bait, whether by rod/reel, seine net, or bait trap (although these would not fit in a standard minnie trap).

Guess who felt and looked like the 2 Suckers!

    not sure about that size, but always caught a lot of 4-6" using velveeta cheese. maybe just a bit of cotton to keep it on the hook.  hth

    The net thing is not working for me.  We had two 4ft nets, walking toward each other, and also side by side and did not catch any.  I'm trying to fish for them from now on... plus that water is freezing!
