Yough at the moment?

I am wondering if it is worth fishing the W Newton /Smithton stretch at this time of year. Was thinking of trying mid week in the temporary warm up....if I can get minnows. I fished there all summer, but, are the bass holed up now with the colder water?

Swans,  I haven't been trying for bass lately but was on the allegheny last week fishing for musky and we ended up with 3 18" smallies.  Water temps on the yough were 44 yesterday, and a few weeks ago while bass fishing the yough we caught some bruisers.  I think it would be worth the effort, you may catch a trophy.

You can get minnies at Tackle Unlimited on 51 right past Elizabeth at the top of Large Hill.  I'll be hitting the Yough a few times this week myself.  Haven't been there for awhile since it's dark before I get to leave work.

anytime you can fish is a good time, especially on a beautiful river like the yough.

Yes, I agree entirely...it is a great river and not heavily fished compared to many spots....can always get a good spot.

And thanks for the bait info, Smallhook.
