pa fish comission

so i went to a piece of water to catch crayfish and the pa fish comish came and pinched me because it was a part of water you were not allowed to be at until first day of trout i was unaware of it but he asked me for my fishing liscense do you really need a liscense to catch crayfish?!?

    you need a license to take any type of fish/fishbait, frogs, turtles, snakes, ect from from any waters in the state of pa.

    I'd think that C&R crayfishing would be permitted, but if you were keeping them, then yes, it's considered taking bait.

    Even so, I'm not sure that taking crayfish on an ATW would be illegal...you don't even have a rod & reel (I hope...)

    So many hunting and fishing laws in PA are in place to make law enforcement easier. I think it stinks you can't catch crayfish because trout season is closed. I think it stinks you have to buy a trout stamp to catch carp at Indian Lake. I'd like to see trout open all year like most places, then you could terrorize crayfish legally. I could go on...no hunting groundhogs in turkey season, using turkey shot for coyotes in turkey season...

    i am w tull trout season should be open all year why wait till opening day to start chasing the stocking truck
    stocked trout are for taking its a put and take system the fish comm has, most trout dont make to winter anyhow
    i release most of the trout i get rather watch the kids getem
    if anything opening day should be the day the 5 fish limit starts

    It is isn't it ? The early season that runs through March is only three trout, then it closes to 1st day which then goes to 5.
