Here in Ct you must have landowners written permission to hunt ANY private property. I dare not recall how many owners have said NO because their insurance people said NO HUNTING. It is idiots like that guy in the news that negatively effect us in so many ways. It is not the legal hunter that non hunters recall but the slob who got all the headlines.

I believe he's a former DA, not currently in office.

how can it be involuntary manslaughter?the guy obviously was out there on his own free will,illegaly i mite add.he never made an attempt to identify his target.and he pulled the trigger on an unidentified target.i hope he gets prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law and never see's the outside of a prison cell again.

Tull would not be the only one out there comiting a crime if the Antis ever got their way. I suspect many of us who hunt as a way of life rather that just a sport would be hunting illegally. The significant difference is one of common sense and responsibility that each of us would continue to employ in our hunting and shooting practices.
 This is the elemental difference that separates us from the slob. Unfortunately it is THOSE kind of people who supply the ANTIS with the fuel to abolish our way of life. Tulls basic point about hunting no matter what has some merit but I would argue that this guy is in no way whatsoever worthy of being compared to the rest of us under any circumstances whatsoever.
  There are many possible situations where a guy may have his lisence endangered having nothing whatsoever to do with the basics of hunting. For example if a guy insults your wife and you pop him in the nose you may be convicted of  an assault thus precluding you from gun ownership because of your "violent" nature..
Decades ago this would have been considered the right and proper thing to do but in todays world you are "not allowed"  and have to pay a lifelong price for your " violent" act. ( no it didnt happen to me- but it could -to most of us).
  There is little doubt that this guy and perhaps one or two of his companions will "pay" for this horrible act but they are NOT comprable to the rest of us in any way whatsoever.

30-40 years ?? ===== GOOD !!!!!

I think if the others involved did not come forward with the truth right away they too should be punished somehow, but I guess that is not going to happen ???
