Buck down

I shot this buck Saturday morning at 40 yds. There must have been a hot doe in the area because he did three big circles around me in about a 30 min span. First time i saw him he walked to within 37yds but couldnt get a shot. I tried grunting and bleating but he had other things on his mind. 15 min later I see him again coming at me, this time he passes at 47 yds. He then walked into the same thicket and disappears. At this point im bummed, 2 opportunities at this great buck and no shot. 10 min later I see him for the 3rd time circling and coming down the same path, I am saying to myself, "theres no way hes getting past me again." This time he stays below me at 40 yds, I pull, back mouth grunt and thwack!!. Center punched him, he took off and stopped after 50yds and piled up.

Another great buck rhomer, way to go!

    ...I have to ask though...
    (if I remember right...?)

...isn't he a little smaller than the 6 point you got last year?!

He is a bit smaller than the freak 6 last year that was 4 yrs old, but i love the gnarly points. I would like to get this one aged, his body only looks like a 2.5 yr old but the rack has the characteristics of a more mature deer. Now im upset that i cant hunt the peak of the rut because i know of 2 other that are bigger than this one. Oh well, still have 2 doe tags
