Twin Lakes

Was just wondering if anyone has fished either of the two lakes recently. Heard it was stocked by the club on the 11th & is going to be stocked by the state on the 29th.      Thanks in advance for any info    Paul

Paul, I have been fishing both lakes almost daily. Very few fishermen, not a lot being caught, trout ,that is. bass have been hitting, but not big ones.If you are fishing for trout ,You may do better with bait on the bottom. I normaly use jigs on a bobber & have been getting a few.May do better at Keystone State Park They were to stock trout yesterday & I know that the bass have been hitting since the lake was drawn down.    sam

Does anyone know if they completed the work on the Keystone State Park causeway and refilled the lake yet?

I was told by one of the workers that they would be done around the end of this year. looks like it will be quite a while before it fills back up. you can still fish it now.   sam

Paul, I was at the upper lake near the wishing well lot. I normaly fish the upper lake because I think it is prettier & more peaceful, although at times it can be hard to find a place to park, even for those of us that have handicapped plates. If you see me Sun. say hi, but I may go for crappie at crooked creek instead.   sam

We fished the upper lake today, although we didn't catch as many as usual, they were all nice sized. we have been catching mostly nice fish from this last stocking.most of the state fish are in spawning mode, the ones that the club put in on Oct.11th are bright silver.   sam

Sam , we fished the upper lake today also , caught a couple dozen... all nice size. All released to fight another day. I was wondering why most of them where the pale green color , my buddy said maybe they are in the spawning ...... guess he was right. Also saw your name in the sports section of the tribune review. All the luck in fighting the water authority to open up the lake for fishing. Sounds like an uphill battle.     Paul

Maga2120, fish are spread out pretty good & seem to be hitting everywhere.I did pretty well on jigs at the upper lake, but have buddys that are doing well on the lower lake also. p.b. green or rainbow,or yellow has been working. also 1/2 of a crawler top or bottom has been good this week. this last stocking by the fish comm. put in some very nice fish, most of which are spawning.be advised that the boat house is on winter hours & also that on tues. & thurs. both lakes are closed from dawn until 9am to fishermen & walkers for the goose hunts, although lately I haven't been seeing any geese there.   sam

trouthater,I was still catching crappie at crooked creek a couple of weeks ago,If I were looking for them thats where I would go.If you mean at twin, every evening at dusk you can pick up a few by dragging a wet fly across the top near shore at either lake. I would say that keystone state park might be a good option since they have drawn it down so much. there are nice black crappie in there if you can find them.   sam

Trouthater, I did not give up on Beaver Run yet. We are in a holding pattern now. BTW I fished the upper lake yesterday afternoon & did very well. They were still hitting jigs. The best time this time of year IMO is from noon til 4-30 pm.It was pretty chilly for a while & my line started to freeze in the guides. That may be why I was the only one fishing most of the afternoon LOL    sam

    Mr Crappie,
Yesterday here in Apollo it was snowing pretty good. Had enough that it actually laid on the ground while it snowed. Surprise to see you didn't say it snowed there, but could have been the way the clouds went.

2dog,It was flurrying off & on,but not sticking. actualy it looked like the trout were rising for the snowflakes & might be why they were hitting jigs so well.we were out this afternoon & they were hitting bait much better than jigs,at least where we were.   sam
