OK...Here's my idea...

I put this on the Erie board b/c this will generate interest/hits...If the mod wants to move...thats OK

My wife and I were sitting here tonight trying to decide what to do when she takes her vacation next week.  We planned on fishing locally as I've been out of work and money is tight.  We decided that maybe we would fish our local "crick" from top to bottom.  I mean fish every "inch" and document each fish caught.  Length & weight.  Within a reasonable amout of time.  Say maybe 3 - 4 days.  We would have ALOT of ground to cover.  As well as low creek conditions this time of year.  (Which will be good for wading). So the canoe is out.  Let me just say its familiar waters.  Just kinda take a survey on what we catch.  I dont think something like this has erver been done on this creek.  And take photos of course.

Here are my questions to you guys...

1. Should I give my results to the "local conservency" before I release it on here?
2. Should I give up my "crick"?  I dont want to "spot burn" myself.  I have (same) fish that I catch year after year that I know personally.  HA HA
3. I could give a decent "health of the crick" in general.
4. Give a total or a count at least in "non target" fish species.

I dont know...I dont think anything but good could come from this.  Its a small creek with alot of history and personal meaning to me.  Keep that in mind and let me know what you think.  I have all week to decide and tweak my ideas and would welcome feedback.

Thanks guys/gals...WILBUR_83

Wilbur, I think your idea has great merit1 But I wouldn't divuldge your location. Maybe a few pics of non-determinate backround. BUt a good description of your adventures would make a nice read. You really don't need to say: "my wife and I fished Spring Creek and we caught tarpon and flounder at the steel bridge". But you can say : " My wife caught a 16 inch brookie on the third hour of the 2d day of our creek adventure". Descriptive but not spot burning.

    Wilbur,

Enjoy the time together, take pics, and then lock those memories away and revisit them from time to time.  Makke it special; but make it special for the two of you.  Nobody else needs to know.

honestly, taking the data will be alot of fun for you. Don't release it to the public though. Keep it for yourselves. maybe make it an annual thing to see how the crick changes.

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything, but you still can't help but smile when you see one tumble down the stairs.

If you do give up any of your data only provide conditions and results.

It would be noce to see a complete log of the sort you are mentioning. And if I were in your shoes I would not tell anyone where it is.

Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will sit in a boat and drink beer all day.

all - had a blast...wife ended up with a bad case of poison ivy...ended up doing a float trip in one of the lower sections after finding out there was plenty of water with a little help from the beavs...I pushed the canoe some but had a great float...daughter joined us for the float...

Caught a carp on a rapala...of all the years I fished the creek - or anywhere for that matter - thats never happened...2 sheephead also...didnt take the camera on the float trip - 3 in the canoe - didnt want it to get wet...

Biggest bass was 14"...that is a lunker for the crick...average size was 13 - 13.5"...we caught 6 rock bass in total of 3 days...

no arrowheads or flint for that matter - I looked alot too...but did find (what I think is a stone digging tool)...I'll attach a pic...

    Wilbur,

I'm sure the local conservancy would be interested, at the very least, to know what kinds of fish and how many you found in the river.

I would imagine that they would appreciate the information or find it somewhat useful.
