It was a great weekend fishing with you guys. Those fish really pound the dry when they want to. Size ranged from 12 to 17, though I think Troutslammer had a couple of long distance releases on a couple of real hogs. We were lucky enough to catch the tail end of the caddis hatch and take those fish while they were still looking up. Eagle Eye DT put on a clinic. It was like he knew the water before he even fished it. Thanks for being a second pair of eyes for me. Sometimes staring into all that glare gets the best of me. DT "Hey Dano, There's a rise" Dano " Where????" DT " Right there in front of you, did you see that??" Dano " No, but I'll take your word for it"--- Cast---Cast--- Dano hooks a fish.

warning; wading below the dam is a $75.00 fine some of the pictures you have witnessed were taken using trick photography, strategic angles and photoshopped. sorry dennis

imo- it is not well marked of where you are allowed and not allowed to wade. the sign near the dam doesn't say anything about how far you are not allowed to wade. there are no signs in the water or along the banks that i seen. i wasn't aware there was a sign near the steps from a path because i didn't walk down the path. did the guy say what caused the drowning? did they fall off the wall while trying to fish? fell in from shore on the slippery rocks? tried to wade in strong current above their knees? it's interesting that there are no sirens, bells or whistles to let people downstream know when they are releasing more water from the dam.(a park ranger told me this when i asked) what's more dangerous 1. wading knee deep near the bank within visability of the dam release wall 2. being downstream, out of site of the dam, wading across the river or on an island when they release more water without warning? it's a trap. one of those 'ignorance of not knowing or being told the law is no excuse'. pay the fine or get lucky.

I'm not to sure there were deaths recently in the tailwater. There have been recent cases in the main lake. I've been fishing there since I was a kid. They used to notify us to get out of the water when there was going to be a higher than normal water release. Usually they would just get on the bullhorn and tell people to get out of the water. We used to wade pretty far out there. I remember people wading out to the small island at night and others half way across to fish walleye. I guess things have changed. I remember a time when I chit-chatted to an official looking USGS guy standing on shore while I was waded out about 10 feet in a shin deep flat while targeting cruising carp on a sunday afternoon. THis last Sunday was only the second time I've come face to face, in all the years I've fished there. And the first time I've heard about $75 fine. It looks like they're either cracking down or maybe not patroling that area during my normal fishing time which is xx O'clock. Either way, I'll make sure I stuff $75 in my wallet before heading out. They should relax the rules at low flows. Sunday morning, we were mostly in 12" - 18" of slow moving water. USACE regulations sucks. I have a right to navigate our river.

in my defense here fellas , i was standing down stream of jerry smoking a big fat cigar making me unable to see the no wading signs , i was wondering the whole way home as my elbow and forearm throbbed like on a trip back down 79 after hitting the mile streams for chrome rockets why we didn't get biotched at by someone. i don't think the fine means you can still stay and fish like leaving a parking ticket on your car all day ...i will definitely chalk this one up for memorys though ...once again thanks guys your awesome you 2 even if you are a bad influence , my wife said she doesn't care that i get home at mid night from trout fishing with jerry but 150 in fines for the weekend she might shut me down !!!!!
