Bass Tracker 175 and 20HP
I am going to be buying a boat to fish PA's limited HP lakes and I wanted to know if anybody has a tracker 175 (or the older tracker pro 17) with a 20HP motor and how it runs with it. Does it get the boat on plane and what is the top speed roughly? I was originally going to get the 16 footer (pro 170tx or old pro 165), buy I have been seeing more 17 footers for sale. Any input is greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jeff

Since i just got out of the market of looking for a boat i have to tell you that i believe a 175 Tracker with a 20 hp will have trouble getting on plane quickly if at all. MAybe someone else has better input

Thanks for the input guys. Hopefully somebody that has a pro team 175 might see this and be able to offer some input as far as top speeds with the 20. My father has a 20ft Great lakes special with a 70 and a 20 (recently upgraded from a 9.8 kicker). It was mainly used for Erie but we have used it on limited HP lakes the last few years and we did 5-7MPH tops (GPS speed) on the limited HP lakes with the 9.8, but have done 11-13 (GPS speed) with the new 20 this year. I was originally thinking about getting the 170tx / 16 footer as it goes about 200 lbs lighter than the 175 (17 footer), but I have been seeing more pro 17s for sale lately, which is why I am inquiring. Again, thanks for all responses. Jeff

Glendale isn't a huge lake. I think you'll be fine, especially if you like the layout of your current boat. IMO, I'd keep it and repower.

i honestly love the boat, wanted to go to a 75hp with a kicker but trackers design does not allow for a kicker so im gonna just mount a new 20 hp on and i think it will suit me fine..

Is a kicker plate out of the question? or is that there's no room for a second set of controls?

They are probaly talking about the way the transom is cut out for your main motor. By what I see a kicker plate should not be a problem. Might be something you may want to check into further.

There are lots of places to purchase kicker brackets even Cabelas sells them. If you are a do it your selfer I'm sure mounting one would be no problem. If you want to control the kicker motor from the cockpit of your rig you will have to get a set of controls and a steering rod also. Search the net for more info theres a ton of it out there. Give Pymy boat sale in Jamestown a call and tell them what you what to do. They will steer you in the right direction or install one for you. Many other boat dealers will do the same but I herd good things about Jamestown. http://forums.iboats.com/Outboard-Motors/Kicker
