kicker motor mount

Hello all. I'm looking to see how you guys store your 9.9 or larger kicker motor when its not attached to the boat. I was thinking of making a home made jig and bolt it into the floor or wall to hold my 9.9 Johnson but wanted to see what others do.

Thanks

Use a hefty wood sawhorse for one, like E&G said, and motor stand for another... biggest decision would be to figure out if you wanted something on wheels or fixed. Wheels helps save some sweat when getting it out to the boat to use for a trip....

I have mine on a 2 wheel dolly that I got at a yard sale for a couple of bucks. I did have to put a piece of 2 X 4 wood bolted at the top to put the motor clamps on.

I just wheel it around and in the winter wheel it into the basement for storage. It is a little top heavy and you need to be careful where you stand it but for 2 years it has worked fine.

2 strokes lay on the floor...
4 strokes get stood up leaning in the corner!

2 strokes don't have oil in the crank case,so you can lay them any direction you want...just like a chain saw engine...it will work up-side-down or laying over...

4 strokes have oil resivoir in the crank case and if you lay it over the oil can get into the carb or pistons and make one heXX of a mess!
