    Nice later (40-50's) model.
With those old Hardy's, you don't have to yell "fish on".
    It sings it for you.

Does it have the makers initials on inside of frame? (dating purposes)

Nice find Kev.  Last time I was at my regular fly shop, I played around with some of the New Hardy reels being reintroduced.  Really want to get the St. George Hot Spur and put it on a two hander.  Just don't like the price tag lol.  Still keeping an eye out for an old one that I can afford.

    K,
maybe earlier than 50's. i dunno. the early ones had a spool latch resembling a telephone.
if it's initialed, it may show up here for dating purposes.

KJ - your right in that there is no mistake in the sound of the reel. I have a 3 5/8 Hardy Perfect that I use now and then for steel. With the click and pawl drag - the reel does talk to ya ...LOL... but it's a good sound.  I'm sure you'll end up liking it.

Niiiiccceee! You realize, of course that that reel should really be on a 10' salmon wt bamboo rod (9-10). That way you can not only fish with it you get a good upper-body workout and you can use it to beat grizzley bears to death if they try to get to where you are fishing. I'm jealous!
