Basically, if you have a crossbow, you can't shoot Rage's or some other types of expandables....Vertical limbs, don't have as much KE....

My brother is shooting rage's out of his x-bow without issue. The KE out of his xbow is 70

If you shoot more than 40 KE then you shoot the regular rages.

Better too far back, than too far forward.

The 40ke has a smaller cutting diameter than the original rage. I'm guessing it penetrates a little better with the smaller diameter.

One thing that seems like a recurring theme on the shows on TV where the hunters use rage heads is shots that don't pass through completely. I see this especially on Drury outdoor programs.

I shoot G5 tekans which have the same cutting diameter as the 40ke, and have got a clean pass through on all 3 deer I've shot with them.

    Drake,
Not to be a smart arse but keep in mind those guys are shooting bucks4+ yrs old.  Brick Poophouses!

I've shot darn near 20 deer with them and all have been pass-throughs except for 2...shoulder shot and opposite shoulder.  The shoulder shot was on a 4yr old.

Yes, the 40's are only 1.5" cutting diameter.
My buddy accidently purchased the 40's and shot 2 doe with them.  No problems.  He shoots 70#.
The standard Rage BH's can be shot with a crossbow.

There are slow crossbows and fast compounds.  KE ranges all over the place for all equipment choices.  The key is knowing your equipment and what works with it.

    Agreed.

There is no correlation between horizontal or vertical limbs and KE. Velocity and the arrow mass are the only factors contributing to KE. As DPMS said, speed varies across the board for different brands of x-guns and bows. Accordingly, arrow/bolt masses vary greatly among different compositions and manufacturers.
