Second Buck With A Bow

Well I shot this deer Wednesday the 28th at about 5:30 pm. After the shot I wasnt sure where I had hit the deer although I thought it was pretty far back. I decided to wait till the following morning to go look for the deer. Well we got on the bloodtrail and right away not very much blood just drops here and there. In about a 100 yard stretch the deer bedded 8 times with clots in every bed. Then we came to a small thicket about 20 yards square with 6 beds in it and he was laying about 30 yards from there! When I shot the buck I wasnt sure what was up with his left side but knew he had a decent right. As it turns out he snapped off his brow and main beam right at his G-2 on the left side giving it the appearance of a giant spike. I was stilling tickled to death as I am only 15 and this was my second buck with a bow (although my smallest)!

Hey man, glad you were successful.  When they bed and get back up like that, it's usually b/c you're pushing them.  If you're a bit unsure of your shot, back off a little while longer.  They'll be there still.  Each time is different though and no one rule works for every situation.  Hope you learned something with this buck.

Claypool I know this is usually the case but the deer was left alone for 14 hours. O ya and forgot to mention that the whole thing was captured on video so we were actually very sure of the shot. Nothing like watching your arrow disapear into a deer 1 million times in 1 night!

Great job steel junkie!! The first buck I ever shot, 20 years ago, had a rack very similar to that one.
