Favor- Looking for Walnut Pic

Hey guys, I'm looking for a pic of walnut from today.. I'm hearing some people saying it's blown out and not fishable others say you can fish, just wondering if any of the local guys took any pics and they could post one up here. My tripped was planned for tomorrow and thursday but might push it back a day or so. Thanks, Eman

if you looked at the water gauges earlier in the day (morning) i think it was close to 6 ft but has dropped to a little under 5 ft now. My best guess without a picture is that it's flowing pretty good considering it peaked at 900 cf/s today (it was at or around 10 cf/s before the rains came, if that gives you a better idea of how it's flowing)... but that's also dropping down. chances are it's pretty blown out and brown but i'm probably wrong in saying that because i'm less edumacated than all the "professional anglers" so don't take my word for it.

hope you get a pic of it

Just look to left on home page here anbd click weather and waves. On bottom of page click Walnut Creek. Once water levels are below 5 feet is should be fishable and 4 1/2 feet is much better and probaby still off color and great for egg sacks. The off color water with sacks is a real attraction as they will come to the scent of eggs..

general consensus around the forum is to wait a day or so for the water to settle down... but thats up to you

Push your trip back a day or 2. I fished Walnut this morning for a few hours and it wasn't pretty. At 5am the creek didn't look "too" bad. But by 8am I was taking a beating from all the tree limbs, logs, and other junk sailing downstream. Give it the extra day for the creeks to settle down.

It'll be worth the wait. Thursday and Friday should be really good as the fish have been on the move. The fish as well as anglers will be spread out and the water conditions will be much more favorable.

I'd say Thursday judging from past experience.  But the weekend looks like it may be a washout.  If you check the national weather map they're calling for rain Fri, Sat and Sun from Chicago to Albany.  Clearing Mon; possible rain tues, and wed is too far out.  Might get lucky for the "One Fly".  Or might not; but it will happen.

Thursday through the weekend should be perfect...

we got much rain which really swelled the creek pretty good (just what we needed, but at the sacrifice of about 2-3 days easy fishing).  but today it is not raining at all and the clouds are starting to form clumps which tells me that the big high pressure system is moving in to get that rain and wind off of the lake.

I will try to take a ride down today and grab a few pics.. but If you got a ways to drive I would recommend to tie some more eggsacks, flies and watch some more youtube videos for about 1 more day until it simmers down just a wee-bit more.

Guys, if you need information or guide service or anything at all, as always feel free to let me know via PM

and like I said before as well:  ANY condition is nearly fishable.. it depends on your TECHNIQUE and your TOLERANCE

    An YES... even THIS:

...although this is where the tolerance is tested.  lol

Maybe you should work for local weather....I think you might know more than them.....
